Enjoy your own self-contained space and pool when you stay in our lovely home in the peaceful village of McGregor, nestling between two mountain ranges with farms and vineyards all around. Get to know our horses who also share the site.
You will have your own private single storey space at one end of the property. It is ideal for two couples travelling together or for parents with older children (see below); the second bedroom can be set up as either a double or a twin room.
The air conditioned en suite master bedroom has three sets of double doors, one leading onto the large stoep, another leading to a smaller sheltered courtyard and a third from the bathroom into the courtyard next to the outside shower.
There is a small kitchenette area with microwave, toaster, and fridge which also gives onto the stoep and a sitting room / study for relaxing nights in. The study contains your own front door, easy chairs and a dining table.
The second bedroom has its own bathroom directly opposite which has a walk-in shower. All rooms have supplementary heating for those colder winter nights and all beds have electric blankets.
There is a lockable connecting door to the our part of the property, but you have your own front door with access to the study from the street; your car can be parked off-road right outside.
The extensive garden area is open to both parts of the house, but you have a large covered stoep and small courtyard - both with table and chairs and a braai - to yourselves. If you plan to use the braai, please bring your own fuel and firelighters.
Breakfast & Dining
A light breakfast of juice, fruit, bread, yogurt, cereals and coffee / tea is included in the room rate and cutlery and crockery is provided for breakfast and any braais or snacks you want to have. The kitchenette doesn't lend itself to gourmet cookery but we're expecting that you will want to eat in the village's excellent cafes and restaurants.
Horse lovers will particularly enjoy being able to see our three thoroughbred / warmbloods nearby; the house renovations were designed so that Jill could do so as she lay in bed or in the bath. The tack and feed rooms are at the far end of the property (we call it the Wild West Wing) and accessible to us without intruding on your space. There will be activity when the horses are groomed, fed and exercised but we don't expect that to interfere with you at all.
Jill and / or Steve expect to be on hand whenever we have guests, but are more than happy to leave you in privacy if that is what you wish; we have been in McGregor for 15 years and are happy to advise on restaurants, the area, and activities if required.
