Serenity Retreat offers budget self catering accommodation in Storms river in safe surroundings in the heart of the Tsitsikamma - an ideal base from which to explore. We offer peace and privacy for people wanting to relax and unwind surrounded by the spectacular scenery of the Tsitsikamma.AccommodationSerenity House Our self catering unit is a colourful and comfortable house which has an en-suite family room (interleading rooms with queen size bed and single bed) and two separate rooms with twin beds and double bunk sharing separate shower/toilet. There is a spacious and fully equipped open plan kitchen / dining and lounge area with DVD player. The house comfortably accommodates 3-7 people. There is a covered stoep and kettle braai facilities. Rondavels There are also 2 rustic brick and thatch rondavels in the garden with views of the Tsitsikamma Mountains and fynbos. They share a separate kitchen in the wooden cabin. The rondavels are our Beat the Budget option – with no unnecessary & costly frills – suited to the budget conscious traveler/backpacker who still wants comfort and privacy. Each rondavel has an ensuite shower and toilet - all linen is provided and beds are very comfortable. Driftwood is the larger rondavel and can sleep 3 people – it has a Double bed, an additional single bed and small seating area – the more comfortable and spacious option – suiting the longer stay or more mature guests.. Sanddrift is smaller and cozy, and reflects the colours of sand and stone. Our most basic option for those wishing to have private, clean and affordable accommodation. Perfect for an overnight stop or Budget break. FacilitiesNo alcohol is sold on the premises. There are a few shops, local restaurants and coffee shops as well as two adventure centres in downtown Storms River. There is secure off street parking. Kitty and Danny are on hand and after many years in tourism have helpful tips and advice to travelers. Danny is a Registered Western Cape Tour Guide and speaks Swiss German. Our DogsGuests must love dogs - we have two boisterous, loveable and very lively Staffie companions - they are part of the family and part of the property. Attractions and ActivitiesThis area of the Garden Route is jam packed with action attractions and spectacular scenery. Stay for a day or linger longer and take your time to explore the many aspects of the Tsitsikamma and beyond. We are located in the Storms River Village - a stone's throw away from Tsitsikamma National Park, the start of the famous Otter Trail and many other shorter day hikes and walks. Storms River Village is the home of Storms River Adventures, the amazing Tsitsikamma Tree Top Canopy Tour, Blackwater / Storms River tubing and kloofing and Waterfall Zipline Tours are close by. The world's highest bungy jump and the Flying Fox are at the Bloukrans Bridge - a mere 20 km away. Indigenous forests and nature trails surround Serenity Retreat - and horse and mountain bike trails follow the old Storms River passes and paths. Natures Valley and the Crags are less than 50 km’s from Storms River and the Crags boasts many wildlife sanctuaries; elephants, Monkeyland, Birds of Eden, Wild Cat Rehabilitation and the Snake Sanctuary.
