About Serenity Retreat
Seeking some Time out in the Tsitsikamma? Serenity Retreat is a relaxed haven for cost conscious independent travellers, families, hikers and small groups - an ideal base from which to explore the many aspects of this Amazing Area on the doorstep of the Tsitsikamma National Park .
This small owner run establishment has an easy going atmosphere offers free WiFi, friendly service, tons of travel tips and info and the companionship of two boisterous and loveable Staffies, secure off-street parking is available and we also offer and facilitate team-building / retreat programmes.
Accommodation is simple but stylish - comfortable, clean and affordable and has self catering facilities. No costly fancy frills - home comforts are assured. Health breakfasts and catering for groups on request.
Exclusive use self catering unit - colourful and comfortable - sleeps eight / nine people and has 3.5 bedrooms / two bathrooms and a huge open plan kitchen / dining lounge area - ideal venue for families, groups and a gathering place for small team-building / retreat groups. There is DSTV and a DVD player and a covered stoep and braai facilities. The house is a real home from home - fully equipped and with space aplenty.
Our characterful rustic brick and thatch garden rondavels - offer a more basic budget option - while still offering comfort, warmth and privacy. A separate communal kitchen / dining and lounge area (with DVD player) - with stoep and portable braai - provides self catering options for the two rondavels.
Driftwood the larger rondavel can sleep two / three people - a double bed, single bed, small sitting area - all in one room with en-suite shower / toilet . This is the more spacious rondavel option - suiting longer stay / more mature guests.
Driftsand is the smaller rondavel - cozy and bright it sleeps two maximum and has comfy twin beds and en-suite shower and toilet. An ideal and adequate stopover spot for a budget break.
TEAMBUILDING & RETREATS
Exclusive use of the Retreat can be booked for groups of 10 - 14 people. Group discounts available. We can offer team-building / retreat programmes and packages which incorporate the nature, adventure and serenity of Stormsriver.
Facilities & Surroundings
Our fun filled forest dorpie boasts an Info Centre, Adventure Centre, some good restaurants including the retro Marilynís 60ís Diner which is becoming a landmark of renown. There are a few basic shops and coffee shops in downtown Stormsriver and even a Mountain Spa where your tired muscles can be soothed and pampered. Our Village is a vibrant multi-cultural community where friendly faces and an unhurried way of life are a reminder of bygone days.
Your Hosts & Our Dogs
Kitty is your resident host and also facilitates retreats and team-building events in the area in collaboration with Stormsriver Adventures. Danny is a German speaking Tour Guide who specialises in tailor made Garden Route / Countrywide tours and is sometimes available to conduct our own guided hikes and trails.
Bilbo and Nandi are the resident hound dogs - lively and loveable. They rule the property and provide love, protection and entertainment. No other pets allowed - By Order of the Staffies.
Attractions and Activities
Storms River Village is the home of the amazing Tsitsikamma Tree Top Canopy Tour, Blackwater Tubing on the Stormsriver, the eco friendly Segway Tours, Mountain Bikes and Eezi Bike Trails and the memorable Woodcutters Journey through indigenous forest. The Big Tree stands guard over the village and many other forest and fynbos trails surround us. There are coastal activities - kayaking, snorkelling, boat rides etc. at the nearby Storms River Mouth and the world's highest bungy jump and bridge walk are close by at the Bloukrans Bridge - a mere 20km away.
Natures Valley and the Crags are less than 50kmís from Storms River and the Crags boasts many wildlife sanctuaries; The Elephant Sanctuary, Monkeyland, Birds of Eden, Tenikwa Wild Cat Rehabilitation and Cheetah Walks. We are ideally situated between the surfing mecca of Jeffreys Bay and the jewel of the Garden Route - Plettenberg Bay is only 65kms away.
