I had the pleasure of staying at this place in July '09, and I couldn't have been more delighted. I only stayed for one night, but if I head back to Joburg I'm certainly calling these guys again. The place itself was immaculately clean, beautiful rooms, well appointed lobby and dining room, and had extremely friendly staff. In addition, it's very conveniently located in the city, and feels totally safe.
What really sets this place apart, however, are the owners. When I arrived I had only one day to see Joburg (and had made no plans). Instead of letting me set off on my own, one of the owners amazingly offered to give me a tour himself (it was a slow day and he wanted to make sure I got the best experience of the city possible). We spent the rest of the day driving round all the important sites in the city, and he was the most knowledgeable and friendly tour guide I've ever had! At the end of it, I insisted on paying him something for the tour, and he sheepishly suggested a price that was less than half of what I'd been quoted from another hotel. I couldn't have been happier!
If you're planning on heading to Joburg for a weekend or for the World Cup, I'd strongly recommend this place. It was a real treat. |
