The Sandpiper Guest Cottages of Boggomsbaai are designed with great care for Self Catering lovers. Dinner and / or breakfast can be provided on request. The cottages are unique in character and ambience. Boggomsbaai is a little known hamlet, off the normal routes with kilometers of unspoilt beaches. It nestles snugly on the southern shores of South Africa, 30 kilometers west of Mossel Bay. Beach combers can explore for hours on golden sand where your only company will be … black oystercatchers, sandpipers, sea gulls and the odd whale or school of dolphins cruising by.

The local fynbos itself is a unique indigenous feature that supports exciting forms of wildlife. The bird list exceeds 145 species and guests often report seeing the grysbokkies nibbling at the succulents around the cottages. Frequently grey mongoose will scuttle by while you are exploring the local herbs and wild flowers. This bay is famous for its amazing colorful dawns and stunning sunsets and at certain times of the year, the water appears to be a soft pink from beach to horizon.

ACCOMMODATION

The thatched cottages are built in the traditional Old Cape Fishermen style complete with large ‘sit-inside’ fireplaces. Red clay tiled floors compliment the yellow wood and Oregon furniture. Each cottage is discreetly equipped with CD players, radio, DSTV, microwave ovens etc. The Cottages are also hosts to hikers on the world renowned Oystercatcher Trail. We have hosted many interesting and famous personalities. The BBC, National Geographic, 50/50 and other documentary producers have graced us with their presence and have exposed our secrets to nature lovers and fans of olde Cape style architecture and culture.

Apart from the on site activities mentioned below, to be enjoyed nearby is dune boarding, horse riding, beach fishing, snorkeling, kayaking, mountain biking, bird watching and a host of light adventure excursions.

Boggomsbaai is peaceful, safe and secure and away from the main tourist routes. There are no commercial activities and the nearest convenience store is situated 9 km's away, at Vleesbaai. In addition guests have exclusive use of our Sport and Wellness Centre, only a few meters from the cottages and fully licensed. There is also a 9-hole farm-style golf course on your doorstep.

Additional Facilities and activities

Our sport and wellness centre offers a very unique way of relieving tense muscles by relaxing in the sauna and indoor pool, or soaking in the outdoor Bubble spa bath. Sunsets are set aside for a drink on the upper deck with a stunning view over the bay watching whales blowing during the mating season.

Should our guests need more exercise, they can make use of our all weather tennis court or glass back Squash court.
