This historical area with its cobbled narrow streets and colourful small houses is steeped in history. This area dates back to 17th and 18th century when the Dutch East India Company brought the slaves from Indonesia, Sri Lanka, India and Malaysia. This colourful area with its colourful inhabitants celebrate a very colourful celebration each 2nd January; the Coon Carnival when they parade through the streets in this area - a spectacle not to be missed.
