My wife and I have now visited Rose Cottage 4 times. Basil has now passed the cottage on to his son and daughter-in-law, Peter and Janet. The hospitality remains every bit as welcoming and it is a pleasure to sit in the garden at sunset and enjoy a gin and tonic. The cottage is situated in the suburbs of Knysna and you do need a car. I suggest an absolute minimum of 1 weeks stay to enjoy the benefits of the cottage and the area of Knysna. We hope to do 3 weeks again next year. |

Review by: Sue Campbell, Bristol, UK (stayed: February 2008)
We stayed in Fisherman's Hoek, which was small but perfect for us. It is a little way out of town, but that suited us as we were not awoken by traffic - just birds. The Hoek was spotlessly clean with incredible attention to detail - even small jars of tea, coffee and sugar and a little jug of milk in the fridge for those arriving after the shops shut.
The garden is delightful and the pool refreshing. We could not have asked for more - and Basil is a charming but discreet host with faultless knowledge of the local restaurants. We could have stayed until the end of the year. We cannot recommend it highly enough.
