Rissington Inn is an affordable, award-winning country hotel in Hazyview, the heart of the Lowveld. Stylish but relaxed and informal, it is the perfect stopover on the way to the private game reserves and an ideal base from which to explore all that Mpumalanga has to offer. At least a three day stay is recommended in order to cover all the sights and sounds of the area and to allow a day relaxing by the pool and soaking up the lodge’s laid-back atmosphere.

Accommodation


The sixteen individual rooms and suites are surrounded by 10 acres of extensive colourful gardens and offer comfortable, spacious and airy accommodation. All rooms have their own entrances and verandahs. Many have two or three beds to accommodate children and extra adults.

Each room has a private bathroom and the wonderful garden suites and hillside suites also offer outside showers and hammocks or day-beds. The rooms and the charming, thatched main house are shaded by magnificent trees and have breathtaking views down the valley.

HILLSIDE SUITES
Pumalanga and Shonalanga - two bedrooms in each suite with one walled-off outside shower, two en-suite bathrooms, private sitting room with satellite television, minibar fridge (stocked on request) and private pool shared only by these two suites. Private verandah, view and hammock.

GARDEN SUITES
Ivory, Acacia and Coral - super king size bed and single bed, covered verandah, view, ground floor, Victorian bath, walled-off outside shower, hammock or day-bed.

Sycamore, Ebony and Teak - two queen size beds, covered verandah, ground floor, Victorian bath, walled-off outside shower; view; hammock or day-bed.

Rissington is renowned for its popular and easy-going restaurant and particularly for is outstanding breakfasts which set guests up for a day in the Kruger or for any number of adrenalin-pumping activities available in the region. Light meals, lunch and dinner are all served in the à la carte restaurant, open all day, seven days a week.

There is an extensive choice of dishes and the food is delicious, fresh and uncomplicated. Particularly popular are the stews, curries and steaks but a wide range of vegetarian dishes is also available as well as list of imaginative starters and desserts, light meals and childrens meals. The welcoming, friendly bar is fully licensed.

Long walks and trails with possible sightings of ostrich, giraffes, eland, kudu, zebra, wildebeest and impala. There is outstanding bird watching on property. A bird list is available.

Kruger National Park Phabeni Gate (10 min), Numbi Gate (15 min), Kruger Gate (30 min), Cultural Village nearby, God’s Window and Blyde (Mohlatse) River Canyon 20 minutes drive.

Location


Rissington’s access road is a kilometre of good gravel running through indigenous bush off the R40, just South of Hazyview. The lodge is 10 minutes from the Kruger National Park and close to all the attractions of the Great Escarpment and Panorama Route. Golf, riding (horses and elephants), Africa’s longest canopy trail, rafting, hiking and a host of other activities are available nearby.
