Wilderness Accommodation / Reflections Eco-Reserve Wilderness Accommodation / Self Catering Accommodation in Wilderness

Situated four and a half hours from Cape Town, between Wilderness and Sedgefield, Reflections Eco-Reserve is the perfect get away for anyone wanting a nature holiday. Our self catering lodge is on a 29 hectare rehabilitated pine plantation and boasts only four wooden houses ensuring maximum privacy and exclusivity. The whole property is powered by a combination of wind and sun which creates the ultimate clean holiday and our aim is to create an environmentally friendly, sustainable and comfortable holiday experience.

Self Catering Accommodation

The beautifully appointed, luxury houses can accommodate a maximum of four adults and two children each and comprise two bedrooms, one of which is a double and one a twin, large bathroom with shower bath and toilet, an extra toilet as well as an outdoor shower. An upstairs loft can accommodate children, also a twin bedroom. Each of the houses is powered by its own wind turbine as well as solar panels. They also each have a solar geyser and a gas geyser as back-up for overcast weather.

Each of the chalets are set well apart from each other ensuring privacy as well as peace and quiet and the children’s play area is situated away from the houses. A large viewing deck is placed along the lake and has a spectacular view across the water. We have our own resident Satour and F.G.A.S.A accredited guide who conducts local guided nature walks, evening Astronomy talks on request as well as birding walks in the area.

Each of the chalets are serviced daily and the rate is inclusive of all linen, bath towels (beach towels are available on request) bio—degradable shower gel, shampoo and conditioner and all fire and braai wood.

Location

Located on the Rondevlei, and surrounded by the Garden Route National Park we have access to it all; beaches, forest, canoeing, mountains, cycling, birding and fantastic walks are all very accessible from the reserve. Maps of the various cycling and walking routes as well as bird checklists are available for Guests. Bicycle hire can be arranged in Sedgefield.

The Rondevlei is part of a series of estuarine lakes that contribute in a large way to the Garden Routes fame as South Africa’s favourite holiday destination and is a designated Ramsar site. As such no boating or fishing is permitted. This ensures a tranquil vacation and great birdlife. Besides nesting resident African Fish Eagles we boast about 240 species of bird life as well as Cape Clawless Otter, Water Mongoose, Caracal, Bushpig, Grysbok and Grey Duiker.

We have an active land rehabilitation programme and to this end we support an empowerment nursery in Sedgefield. All our guests are encouraged to off-set their Carbon miles as well as to contribute to the bio-diversity by buying and planting trees.
