About Redford House
Redford House is a four star historic country guest house in The Crags. It is situated against the backdrop of the majestic Tsitsikamma Mountains which lead down to the magnificent beaches of Nature’s Valley, Keurbooms and Plettenberg Bay.
Redford House is a 22 hectare estate with lakes, ponds, streams, gardens and nature reserve, and has guided walks along the hiking and birding trails. Redford was an original English settler’s farm and the old farmhouse and barn have been sympathetically restored, forming part of the present guest house complex.
Our spacious bedrooms and suites have bath and shower en-suite, heating, TV, hairdryers, and tea and coffee making facilities.
There are three separate units, and they are all separate from the old farmhouse:
The Main Guest House, Noble House:
This is a double storey Cape Georgian style house, furnished with antiques. It has two double bedrooms with king sized beds and bath and shower en-suite upstairs, and a very large double sitting room downstairs. Adjacent to it, at the back, are carports. Facilities include a writing room on the landing between the bedrooms upstairs, T.V., tea and coffee making facilities, hair dryers, towel heaters, electric blankets, room heaters, and fire places and a bar fridge downstairs.
The Carriage House:
The Carriage House is a renovated barn. The walls are very thick and the ceiling is constructed of whole poplar trees supporting an Oregon pine ceiling. It is now a very large double bedroom with bath and shower en-suite, a queen sized bed, and sitting area. It is furnished with antiques, and has tea and coffee making facilities, heater, towel heater, electric blanket, hair dryer and sitting area.
Mrs. Tiggy Winkle’s Cottage:
The cottage is self-catering and consists of bedroom, sitting/dining room, kitchen, bathroom with bath and shower. It has a second small bedroom which is adjacent to the bathroom and is suitable for a child. The cottage has its own garden, and barbecue facilities. Other facilities include fridge, stove, micro-wave oven, hairdryer, heater, electric blankets, garden furniture and umbrella.
Breakfast & Dining
Hearty breakfasts are served in the farmhouse kitchen or on the patio, and candlelit dinners in the old settler’s dining room with stories of the old days can be arranged.
There is a pool pavilion and art studio next to the pool and tennis court. Guests can take full advantage of our beautiful weather and laze next to the pool, play tennis, fish or canoe on the lake, or read and picnic under the ancient spreading oaks in the garden, and at the end of the day, watch the sun go down in spectacular style, in harmony with nature’s evening sounds.
A wide range of activities are available at Redford House. These include:
• Picnics and walks in the Nature Reserve
• Historical evenings
• Tour of the Old House
• Art classes and holiday art courses
