Peace and quiet, guaranteed! Petit Plaisir self-catering cottage lies in the quaint little town of Franschhoek, a fine wine and dining hotspot and one of South Africa’s truly beautiful localities. In fact, there is so much to see and do, that it’s best you don’t rush your stay.

Petit Plaisir is the perfect romantic hideaway, on the side of the village, for couples who like to tour on their own terms. Our single cottage offers visitors the ultimate luxury: no porters or guests to disturb your privacy. Its just a short walk to art galleries, restaurants and shops on the Main Road.

Accommodation

The cottage is fully equipped and stylishly decorated with the kind of understated sophistication that has earned us a 4-star rating. Bigger children are welcome - we have a room and bathroom en-suite at the back of the cottage, with entrance from the garden and swimming pool area. Relax by the swimming pool, enjoy the beautifully kept garden and admire the mountain views. Our summer evenings can also be enjoyed at the swimming pool are.

Make your own barbeque, lay the table in the garden and have your dinner by candle light. Enjoy your breakfast on the patio in the morning sun, with a view of the mountains, pick your own herbs from the herb garden or spoil your partner with a freshly picked rose from the garden.

Your hosts

Your hosts are Louis and Marlicia Meyer. They moved to Franschhoek in 1988, from Namibia. Louis was born in the Kalahari in Namibia and Marlicia grew up on a wine farm in Wellington. They met and started dating when they both were studying in Cape Town. They have three children, only the boy of eleven is still at home.

Louis is in the fruit business, packing and exporting soft citrus and stone fruit all over Europe and a view other countries. He drew the floor plans of their house himself. Their house and cottage, with a French touch, were finished in 2006. Marlicia loves making a home for her family, working in the garden, baking and cooking jams. You will be able to enjoy some of her makings.

Activities and Attractions

Outdoor activities include playing golf, walking, horse riding and fly fishing for trout in the local rivers and dams. Franschhoek is within a hour’s drive from Cape Town and lovely beaches along the coast and half an hour from Stellenbosch and Paarl.
