About Pano Avli Self Catering Unit
Pano Avli Self Catering Unit is situated in "Paradise Beach", a private residential security complex nestled around a secluded beach displaying contemporary Mediterranean architecture. The beach is just a quick four minute walk from Pano Avli.
Club Mykonos Casino and Resort is located next to the complex. This resort on the waterfront emulates a Greek village and boasts a variety of facilities: approximately 200 slot machines, harbour, about five restaurants, five bars, boat rides, yachts, fishing and water sports.
Located on the third floor of the main house, this self-catering unit consists of a spacious bedroom, separate lounge / dining room with double sleeper couch, indoor braai, fully equipped kitchen and a bathroom with shower.
The bedroom opens onto a large balcony partially covered by a pergola boasting unspoiled views of Langebaan Lagoon and Saldanha Bay harbour. The bedroom and lounge / dining / braai room are both equipped with wall-mounted LED TVs connected to full DStv.
Langebaan is situated 120km north of Cape Town on the eastern shore of the Langebaan Lagoon, just off the R27, about 28km from Vredenburg and 20km from Saldanha Bay. The Lagoon stretches for 17km from Saldanha Bay, past Langebaan to Geelbek in the South. In places it is up to 4km wide.
The Langebaan Lagoon was formed by the rising and falling of sea levels during pre-historic times from hundreds of feet below to an elevation of 120 to 140 meters above the present sea-level. A 10 km wide channel between the mainland coast near Langebaanweg and a large island (today only the hills are visible) which extended from Saldanha Bay and Vredenburg to St Helena was formed.
“The proto-berg river had its estuary near Langebaanweginto this channel in the direction of present day Spreeuwalle. Today, however, no fresh water enters the lagoon as the Berg River now enters the sea at Velddrif. This is unlike most lagoons where fresh water from rivers enters into a lagoon. As a result, Langebaan Lagoon is a quintessential salt water lagoon. The town Langebaan was founded in 1922 and used as a whaling station until the 1960s. “Hendey, Q.B. 1982. Langebaanweg - A record of past life." Trustees of SA Museum, Cape Town.
“Pano Avli” means “Upper Quarters” in one of the many Greek dialects. Pano Avli is the ideal destination for a self-catering beach holiday.
