The perfect country retreat for the nature-lover and discerning traveller. The farm offers spacious suites which open onto a garden courtyard. Orange Valley Guest Farm is situated on the R58 approximately 10km from the Gariep Dam, 15km from the N1 and 40km North of Colesberg. The farm lies just below the Gariep Dam wall on the border between Northern Cape, Eastern Cape and Free State. Tar roads take you straight to our door where you’ll be greeted with typical Karoo hospitality. A short walk along our farm will lead you to the Orange River. Probably the most spectacular sunsets and night skies you’ll ever see. For something a little different; hike, horse ride or mountain bike through the neighbouring Oviston Nature Reserve. Various species of antelope are easily spotted along with zebra and the shy Brown Hyena. Visit our handmade crafts from the local craft centre, enjoy home-grown vegetables and home cooked meals and purchase our excellent Karoo lamb. Let your hosts Brian and Susan Arnott introduce you to the splendours of this historical and malaria free area! With all these fun activities at our doorstep, hurry down to Orange Valley Guest Farm and experience the thrill of the Karoo. ACCOMMODATIONClean, quiet and serene accommodation with plenty of space for the kids to play. Guest accommodation consists of suites with en-suite facilities opening onto a garden courtyard, separate from the homestead. Family suites are also available, each with own entrances and stylish decor. A separate dining room overlooking the pool services the rooms. All suites are spacious and private and have their own en-suite bathroom, private entrance and a quaint garden. Ceiling fans, heaters and tea and coffee making facilities are provided in each suite. You’ll feel at home in our cozy pub and dining room where home-made dinners and country breakfasts are served. DSTV is available in the pub or relax around a sparkling swimming pool. Rest assured that you are safe and that your car is under cover and secure. CONFERENCES & TEAM-BUILDINGSmall to medium conferences of up to 16 people can be accommodated. White board or flip chart and TV are available. We also provide an overhead projector. HORSE TRAILS - APPALOOSA HORSESThe Appaloosa, with its variety of brightly hued coat patterns, is undoubtedly one of the most distinctive of the world’s breeds. In the past fifty years the Appaloosa has come from near obscurity in America to ranking third in numerical standing amongst registered breeds of the USA, and is also rapidly gaining ground in South Africa. We offer pony rides for children, which are about 10 minutes in length, and a guide leads the horses. A 1 ½ hour trail is for the adventurous guest. You will walk, trot or canter along streams, the Orange River and wide-open plains. Our trail horses are well trained and saddled with Western gear.
