On The Cliffs is a luxury 4 star graded, sea-front guest house, situated right on the on the cliff tops overlooking Walker Bay in Hermanus. All rooms have panoramic sea views and their own private sea-facing patio or balcony from which to watch the whales.

The beautiful Hermanus cliff path is also in front of the house, and the village centre, restaurants, market, shops and harbours are just a 15 minute walk away. Hermanus offers the best land based whale watching in the world. The Southern Right whale arrives in Walker Bay during the months of June to the end of November.

Accommodation

All our rooms are individually decorated with under carpet heating, king size extra length beds, satellite TV and full en suite bathrooms. Each room has its own private sea facing patio or balcony. We are in the perfect spot to watch the whales from the room or from the balcony.

Guest House Facilities

On the Cliff lodge offers a heated salt water swimming pool in a private courtyard, sauna, treatment room for massages, pedicures etc, guest lounges with a fireplace, guest bar with fireplace overlooking the sea and bicycles. We also have secure parking at the back of the guest house.

A shuttle service can be arranged from the airport and cars can also be hired in Hermanus. We also offer a Taxi service from the guest house to the restaurants. Tours of the region and the wine estates are also offered.

Attractions & Activities

Hermanus has stunning sandy blue flag beaches where you can swim, surf, sun bathe and even go horse riding. Grotto beach, our main beach, extends for approximately 20 kilometres, flanked on the one side by the sea and the other side a lagoon and a nature conservation area. This whole area is a bird watchers paradise with enormous lagoons, coastal birds and a mountain nature reserve which boarders the lagoon and the town.

We have excellent wine estates that are just out of town some of which have top restaurants for lunch or dinner. Shark cage diving is offered at Gansbaai which is a short drive away or transport can be arranged. We also have a light aircraft that will take you on whale spotting trips or to a game farm.

The cliff paths extend for over 10 km’s and are incredibly scenic. We also have a nature reserve that borders the town and has fantastic walks into the mountains. Bird watching is highly recommended as we have the sea in front of us, a mountain nature reserve behind us and 2 huge lagoons on either side.

Golf is extremely popular and Hermanus has a top 27 hole golf club, Arabella is one of the countries top golf courses and is about a 25 min drive away. Other activities available are sand boarding, paragliding, kite surfing, penguin colony, and horse riding.
