Oaklane Cottage is situated in the beautiful town of Wellington. The cottage is situated 150 meters away from the start of the famous “horse shoe” route that is nestled between the farms and is very popular with runners and cyclist. The centre of town, with shops and restaurants, are 3km away and Huguenote Schools and Boland Stadium are within walking distance. AccommodationThe cottage is separate from the main house and very private. It consists of a main bedroom with a double bed and build in cupboards, a 2nd bedroom with 2 single beds and build in cupboards, a full bathroom equipped with both a shower and a bath, an open plan living area, a fully equipped kitchen for 5 people, front courtyard with secure parking for 1 vehicle and a rear courtyard with a braai area. The unit caters for 4 people but if necessary a 5th person can be accommodated on a sleeper couch in the living room area. Full DSTV is available and the unit is fitted with double glazed windows and air conditioning to cater for the extreme hot summer days. Use of the swimming pool area (main house) can be arranged with management. Linen and towels are provided. Attractions and ActivitiesWine Tasting: The Wellington Wine route consists of 23 wine producers ranging from small Boutique wineries to the bigger estates and Wineries. Some also offer informative cellar tours (by appointment) and a number of wineries have restaurants as well. The Wellington wine route office can be contacted for more detail. Brandy Route: Wellington has five private distilleries producing top quality Pot Still Brandies and Grappa. The Wellington Boutique Brandy route can be visited in a day, with time for a leisurely lunch break. Soak up the tradition of the ancient craft and experience the passion of the characters involved. Wine Walk: Explore the valley with a 3 day wine walk that covers a walk in the vineyards, olive groves, fynbos and buchu fields at the foot of the Hawequa Mountain. Hiking Trails: Follow one of 4 hiking trails in the Limietberg Nature Reserve where you can have picnics in the mountains and where some of the most exquisite species of wild flowers can be seen at certain times of the year. Historical Walk: Wellington is an architectural jewel, with many Cape Dutch and Victorian buildings of which more then 20 are declared historical National Monuments. 1-2 hours tours available for groups. Horse Trails: One hour to 3 day scenic or wine tasting horse trails through the fynbos, vineyards and olive groves in the foothills of the Hawequa Mountains. Mountain Bike Trails: Hire a mountain bike or bring your own and follow the trail that pass through some of Wellington’s vineyards in the foothills of the Hawequa Mountains offering spectacular views over the Berg River Valley. Suitable for both novice and expert. Golfing: Due to the ideal location, visitors can choose from 27 golf courses within 1 hours drive from Wellington. The famous Jack Nicklaus Pearl Valley golf course and the picturesque Boschenmeer 27 hole golf course is only 30 minutes drive away. Other Attractions: Wellington is situated within comfortable driving distance from Cape Town, the V&A Waterfront, Table Mountain, Kirstenbosch Botanical Gardens, the beaches of Clifton, Camps Bay, Blaauwbergstrand, Strand, Gordon’s Bay and the West Coast.
