About nDzuti Safari Camp
nDzuti Safari Camp in Klaserie Game Reserve part of the Greater Kruger Park is located deep in the heart of the Klaserie on a vast property where the Klaserie River winds into a oxbow creating a horse shoe of lush green riverine trees in an otherwise arid landscape.
On this spectacular section of the Klaserie Private Nature Reserve small groups of guests from nDzuti Safari Camp discover the intricacies and daily dramas of the Africa bush and its varied wildlife. Here visitors experience the joy of trundling around the bush in an open 4 x 4 vehicle and on foot along the game paths that crisscross the landscape, on a private quest to discover and wonder at the marvels of nature and the interaction among species.
Animal tracks on sandy pathways tell of last night’s nocturnal activities and elephant herds leave a trail of shiny patches in the sand and giant steaming droppings as they move through. Game sightings are not the product by endless indecipherable radio chatter but rather from enviable local bush knowledge the collective reasoning of the group-a most gratifying process. The oasis of nDzuti Safari Camp with the well established gardens, sparking swimming pool and a breakfast sizzling on the fire is a welcome respite and a veritable home from home in the bush.
nDzuti Safari Camp has just four en-suite rooms sleeping a total of eight guests in a personalised and intimate safari camp. The camp was recently refurbished following the floods in 2012 resulting from the passage of Cyclone Dando.
Each room has a stable door leading in from well cared-for gardens with an array of lofty indigenous trees. The rooms have large and low windows with clean, uncluttered interiors creating a welcoming fresh environment after a dusty game drive. The bedrooms have air-conditioning as well as ceiling fans and an en-suite bathroom with shower, vanity and basin. An inter-leading door lead from each room into the main area that houses the lounges and dining area.
Across the lawns along-side the swimming pool a wooden deck, thatched bar area and boma offer the ideal venue for outdoor living, alfresco cooking and dining- breakfast cooked over an aromatic fire, lunches in the verdant green shade of the fever trees and dinners around the fire in the cosy boma with the spot-lit waterhole across the dry river bed attracting rare nocturnal sightings.
An indoor dining area is on standby for stormy weather and cosy evenings indoor when the weather dictates. Having the small numbers of guests we do at nDzuti, meals are home cooked and highly personalised. Meal times are convivial hours spent enjoying good company and African cooking with the emphasis on fresh and local ingredients.
The lodge can also be exclusively booked (all 4 rooms) either on a fully inclusive basis (all meals, teas and game viewing activities) or on a self catering basis.
nDzuti Safari Camp is operated by Wildlife Encounters with over 25 years in the bush pursuing conservation based eco tourism and delivering sincere, unpretentious African safaris. nDzuti is located in Klaserie Private Nature Reserve making it a part of the world famous Greater Kruger Park. There are no fences in this vast wilderness area and wildlife is free to move over large areas.
At any one time there is no guarantee that the animals guests hope to see will be on the area we traverse. Unlike smaller fenced reserves the wild animals in the Greater Kruger Park follow ancient instincts and move following better grazing, mating urges and territorial needs. Getting off the vehicle and walking, leaving the roads and following the game paths is very much part of the safari we offer at nDzuti.
Our philosophy is to capture what was, to lean towards the safari of days gone by. Hotels in the bush have become commonplace in today’s safari business, a trend that Wildlife Encounters choose to avoid. We deliver an unpretentious, genuine safari experience where the bush and wildlife steal the show and the safari camp facilitates a comfortable and pleasing stay, arriving as a guest and leaving as a close friend.
