About Morubisi Bush Lodge
Morubisi Bush Lodge is nestled at the foot of the magnificent Magalies Mountains in a tranquil environment with an abundance of bird- and wildlife. It is a quick break from the city, situated only 45 minutes from Johannesburg, Pretoria and Sun City. It is only 10 minutes away from Hartbeespoort Dam.
The lodge boasts nine rock and log bush chalets and five safari tents each with its own private boma and braai area.
It has 8 Elegant rooms (Double Rooms, each fitted with a Queen Size bed) giving a feeling of comfort, warmth, and relaxation. The interior takes you back to another era. An urban legend tells stories of spiritual beings presence in the hotel. A few unexplained occurrences makes us believe this to be true. Rooms are for couples. Children 18 years and over are welcome.
Other facilities include a tree house restaurant, bushveld boma, lapa and bar, swimming pool, novelty shop and a lounge with a big screen TV (DStv).
Owl Rescue Centre
Morubisi Bush Lodge is home to Owl Rescue Centre. Morubisi is the Setswana name for ‘owl’, the native tongue in the area. It is a birdwatcher’s dream location.
The lodge has a separate dormitory section where volunteers and school groups can book in to learn more about conservation and our biodiversity.
Some of the activities offered by Morubisi Bush Lodge include guided nature hikes, bird walks, snake and reptile presentations and night time owl safaris. There is also a sweat lodge and labyrinth in a scenic setting for those interested in a spiritual discovery.
The mountain range behind the lodge is home to a colony of approximately 250 breeding pairs of Cape Vultures. Guests have the opportunity to observe and learn about these critically endangered birds.
You will enjoy good food and good company with your hosts, Danelle and Brendan Murray, the founders of Owl Rescue Centre, a Non-Profit Organisation dedicated to the protection of owls in South Africa.
