Marrob Lodge is situated in the peaceful town of Kwambonambi, 22km north of Richards Bay. Enjoy the tranquil ambience of country living while being close to the business centres of Richards Bay and Empangeni.
At Marrob Lodge you are close to all the tourist attractions of Zululand in KwaZulu Natal; Umfolozi / Hluhluwe Game Reserve, St. Lucia Wetlands, Shakaland, Emdomeni cheetah breeding centre, Zulu dancing and the North Coast beaches, particularly Cape Vidal. All are 50 - 70km from the lodge, just a day trip away, making Marrob Lodge an ideal home base offering comfort and luxury at affordable prices. A visit to the Tuzi Gazi waterfront in Richards Bay is a pleasant interlude and the restaurants there are top quality.
Accommodation
All our rooms are tastefully furnished and feature thatch, giving them a rustic charm, warm in winter and cool in summer. They all offer tea / coffee making facilities with homemade biscuits. SABC and DStv is available and there are remote-controlled ceiling fans in all the rooms. All the rooms are en suite with showers and have king size double beds in them. On request we can make the rooms up with single beds.
The self-catering flatlet is fully equipped and sleeps four people in one bedroom (a king size bed and a double bunk bed). This room is also ideal for a family, especially if the children are small. It has a bedroom, en suite bathroom and a small combined lounge, dining room and kitchenette. All rooms have two and three pin plugs for mobile phones and hairdryers.
Breakfast and dining
Enjoy Marilynne and Rob Farren-Handford's hospitality, with your complimentary full English breakfast served between 7 and 9 daily in the outdoor lapha or the cosy dining room in the winter months. A two course home cooked meal is served on request. Enjoy sundowners at their fully stocked bar overlooking the rock pool.
Relax in the pool or the shady garden if you are not doing the tourist trip. The property abuts onto the Kwambonambi Golf Course with the club house just a 200m walk away. Meals are served at the club at very reasonable prices and we can organize for you to have your evening meal there if you do not wish to have your meal with us.
Services and Facilities
The property is walled and secure parking is available on the property. It also boasts a fully equipped conference and training room. Laundry is done for free for those guests who stay more than one night. Each room is serviced daily. There is a wireless hotspot which is free for our guests use.
Relax in the guest lounge leading to the indoor bar or find some privacy in the upstairs library-lounge, finding some quiet time to reflect on the day's happenings and what to do the following day!
