Fishing
The lodge has three fishing dams: one which has trout only, where catch and release can be practiced from June to September or catch and keep throughout the year at a cost per fish taken. The other dams have trout, bass and carp and bass and carp respectively. The dams have abundant bird life, many birds roosting in the trees and reeds in the evenings.

Art
The scenery and sandstone architecture of the Eastern Free State lends itself to painting and photography. Art courses and workshops are held from time to time at the lodge with well known artists/teachers. Visits to the popular artists’ mecca of nearby Clarens are recommended.

Sport
There is an 18 hole golf course, bowling greens and a horse riding centre in Ficksburg where visitors are welcome. Ficksburg also boasts an airport with a 1,4km tar runway and night landing lights. Flips over Lesotho can be arranged.
