About Lowestoffe Country Lodge - Trout Lodge
Lowestoffe Country Lodge is set against the backdrop of the magnificent Elandsberg Mountains with expansive grasslands, rocky ridges and a meandering river. This pristine setting offers the ideal opportunity for family holidays and weekend getaways.
Trout Lodge is an attractive, up-market lodge was built in 1990 and is located on Lowestoffe Farm, about 30km from Hogsback. It overlooks the main trout dam and is therefore a favourite amongst those keen on fly fishing. It is also walking distance of the stables from which horse trail rides are conducted.
Self Catering Accommodation
Trout Lodge has an open plan living area with a free-standing fireplace for cosy winter evenings, four bedrooms sleeping eight (two double and two twin rooms), a very well equipped kitchen (microwave, stove, fridge / freezer) and two bathrooms (main en-suite). Both a shower and a bath are available.
The decor of the house is tasteful and simple and provides a home away from home experience. As the nights are rather chilly, especially in autumn and winter, there is the added luxury of a duck down duvet and an electric blanket on each bed.
The garden has large lawns and the views are spectacular. The house is serviced daily. Wood is supplied for the fireplace and there is a Weber for braaing but bring brickettes as the wood is not always suitable.
The vast open spaces and diverse topography lends itself to outdoor activities, and among the many we specialize in fly fishing (Trout, Bass and Yellow fish), horse trail rides, mountain biking and hiking.
The picturesque Klipplaat River traverses the farm for 18 km providing numerous scenic spots to enjoy a picnic or deep water pools from which to cast a line for Yellow fish. There are also a number of fully stocked trout dams.
