This two acre retreat lies on the banks of the Klip River, and is an ideal place to watch the wide variety of birds, garden and wading. There are two boats available for either fishing or to take a leisurely paddle up river.

Accommodation

Bird Cottage
This cottage has a mezzanine bedroom with an enormous bed, or by special request two single divans, a wardrobe, a bedside table with lights each side of the bed, two cabinets providing 12 drawers, two easy chairs, two electrical points available. A cantilever staircase leads down to ground floor which consists of bathroom with one normal basin and one vanity basin, with two door cupboard underneath, a single wardrobe, laundry box, separate toilet and a shower cubicle with sliding glass doors.

Off this is an open plan lounge, dining room with a large settee, three easy chairs, a sideboard with three cupboards and three drawers. There is also a large table, bookcase with three shelves and books a four seater dining room table, and chairs as well as a cabinet with a cupboard and two top shelves, standard lamp and a fan. Radio and TV (standard SABC) is supplied.

The kitchen is equipped with a two drawer kitchen cupboard, wall cupboard and rack, microwave, standard three plate electrical stove and a fridge-freezer combination. A six piece garden set is supplied with cushions stored in the bathroom. There is a washing line. Our swimming dam is located close to his cottage.

Lakisis Cottage
This cottage is a one level unit; the bedroom has a queen size bed, over head reading lights, wall wardrobe with shelves, hanging space and bedside tables. The bathroom comprises a shower cubicle with glass sliding doors, a wash basin and toilet. The kitchen is equipped with a four plate electric stove and oven, a single kitchen cupboard with a drawer, fridge-freezer combination, double sink and kitchen cabinet (the microwave is located in this cupboard).

The lounge / dining room has a round dining room table and two chairs, bookcase and books, TV cupboard and a bureau and stool. This room is furnished with a two piece settee and two chairs, as well as a single divan with bedside table. There is a fixed fan and overhead light. Garden furniture and chairs are found outside on the stoep. This cottage stands within a partially walled and railed area.

Brendens Cottage
This is a single cottage with a front door that opens into an open plan kitchen and dining and lounge area equipped with a fridge freezer combination and twin bowl sink. There are also floor to ceiling cupboards with shelves, a three plate electric stove, microwave, two drawers, two cupboards, one easy chair and a two piece settee.

The single bedroom is furnished with a 34 divan, wall wardrobe and shelves, round bedside table and leads into a bathroom with a large shower, wash basin and wall cupboard, separate toilet attached. Garden furniture and a table are found on the stoep or in garden. This cottage is totally walled.

Service

These units are not serviced, we offer our guests complete privacy, but the units are under our personal supervision, and we can assure you of our attention at all times should it be required.

Breakfast

Breakfast baskets must be ordered in advance. Continental breakfast only, i.e. no cooked food.

Services

We do have a ferry, and providing the river is not in flood we do take our guests up river. This can only be offered if the stay is longer than two nights and the trip up the river can be at least three hours or longer, depending on whether it is a morning or late afternoon trip.

We are organic gardeners and have at least 72 varieties of herbs within our gardens.

Notes

Children 12 years and over are regarded as adults. We regret the configuration of the cottages and the property layout is not suitable for babies and small children. We regret no animals allowed, we have two of our own and it becomes traumatic with additional animals.
