Kinmel Guest Farm is your gateway to the unspoiled splendor, peace and tranquility that the Southern Drakensberg can offer. We are tucked away in the Eastern Cape Highlands only a 30 minute drive from the Tiffendell Ski Resort.

Kinmel and the surrounding Drakensberg area is a nature lover’s paradise. The magnificent mountains, pristine rivers with rock pools and waterfalls and open space with crisp clear mountain air offers the perfect getaway. The nearly 1000 ha of farm offers our guests freedom, peace, tranquility and activities away from the hustle and bustle of today’s fast paced lifestyle. Accommodation


Kinmel Guest Farm offers self catering, bed and breakfast or fully catered accommodation.

The old sheep shearing barn has been converted into modern, spacious, luxurious three bed roomed chalets with two bathrooms each. The chalets are fully equipped for self catering. They are fitted with lovely log fireplaces for those cold winter nights and the patio doors lead onto a wide verandah with spectacular views of our part of the Drakensberg Mountains.

Bergstroom Chalet
Sleeps up to 11 persons in comfort.

Wilgerboom Chalet
Sleeps up to 9 persons in comfort.

We offer our guests a very child friendly environment. Surrounding the chalets are large lawns with two jungle gyms for the kids and a small, safe, lovely mountain stream murmurs past less than 50 meters away with wide open spaces where everybody can walk, play, cycle or do whatever they desire.

Breakfast & Dining


Full catering, bed and breakfast, dinner only or whatever may be required can be arranged. We especially recommend a spit braai around a huge log fire at the Boma on the farm for one of your evenings.

Weddings


The scenic beauty of the Southern Drakensberg Mountains, personal touch of your hosts and warm hospitality will make your wedding a unique, one-of-a-kind, exceptional occasion. Our wedding planner will assist you in making all the arrangements, ensuring that your special day really proves to be exactly just that. The nearly 1000 ha of farm provides a wide range of natural scenic settings, such as on top of the mountain or next to the river for an elegant outdoor wedding ceremony. Alternatively, there is a quaint sandstone chapel in Rhodes to also consider for the perfect ceremony.

We can arrange and procure everything you may need, for your unique reception ceremony, not likely to be forgotten soon. Catering to the level of your choice can be provided. Reception venues range from intimate, capable of hosting 50 to 60 guests, to a marquee tent set up on the farm at a location of your choice, size depending on the number of guests, to a Hall where a reception for approximately 200 guests can be held. We can also assist with the accommodation arrangements for all your guests.

Conferences


Hosting a conference and / or team building (range of activities) and / or corporate function here at Kinmel Guest Farm, will provide you not only with a magnificent setting in the mountains, but will ensure a conference without interruptions and / or the disturbance of traffic and other noises. We provide peace, tranquility and a relaxing atmosphere in which to host a very successful conference.

On-site we can cater for small conferences up to about 25 in our in-house conference room or about 50 / 55 can be hosted on our large spacious (enclosed) verandah, with magnificent views of the Drakensberg. We have available white boards (flip charts), a DVD player, large TV screen, overhead projector and laptop. We can also get other equipment should you require same.

ACTIVITIES


We offer something for everyone, from old to young, the more adventurous or just wishing for some peace and quiet.

4 x 4
The mountainous terrain offers the perfect backdrop for exciting 4 x 4 ing of all levels and grades. We offer a variety of guided tours on private trails as well as public routes and some can be done as self drive routes.

SNOW SKIING
Winter time is snow time in Rhodes. During June, July and even August our mountains are covered in a snow blanket, with regular snow falls being experienced in the valley on the farm and surrounding areas.

FLY FISHING
Wild rainbow trout abound in the Bell River, making it a fly fisherman’s paradise. We have our own stretch of river which we make available to our guests. In addition the region boasts more than 200 km of rivers and crystal clear running water in which to cast your fly. Permits to fish these waters can be arranged.

• During December to February this area boasts a wide variety of alpine flowers. View on your own or with a trained guide.
• San rock art can be viewed by prior arrangement.
• Naude’s Nek Pass is the highest mountain pass in South Africa and is a must for all visitors.
• Horse riding, tennis and other activities can be arranged in the close proximity.
• Bird watching.
• Hiking and back packing.
• Mountain biking.
• Quad biking.
• Star gazing.
• Picnicing and / or swimming in the river and rock pools or in the kloof.
