Hoopoe and Sunbird Cottages are situated in beautiful gardens, providing upmarket accommodation for the discerning guest in the quaint 19th century village of McGregor, less than 2 hours from Cape Town and 15 minutes from Robertson in the Valley of Wine and Roses. Hoopoe and Sunbird Cottages are within easy walking distance of restaurants and small shops, and cottages comfortably sleep 12.

Accommodation

Each cottage has a luxurious queen bed and fully equipped kitchenette with stainless steel two plate hob, microwave oven, small fridge, kettle and toaster as well as a private, vine covered patio with table and seating, a braai and mountain views.

Fully equipped for self catering, we supply lovely percale linen and towels, cosy bathrobes and Charlotte Rhys luxury bathroom soaps and creams, tea and rooibos, Nescafe instant coffee (plus there is a tea pot and a coffee plunger in the cottage), milk and sugar. The cottages are also equipped with a fireplace, wall heaters, and an overhead fan, as well as a bedside clock radio, CD / DVD player (DVDs available on request) and TV (SABC 1, 2,3,TBN and eTV) via satellite, but please ensure that you bring your own Smartcard (DSD1110 decoder or later does not support a Smartcard swap) if you wish to watch DSTV.

The decadently luxurious Afro Chic style Hoopoe Cottage (sleeps 2 - 4 together with The Guinea Fowl Room bedroom) is reminiscent of a bygone era and our exquisitely romantic Sunbird Cottage, our Honeymoon Haven, are luxurious Cape Georgian style cottages with beautiful sandstone tiles, soft Cretestone walls and gorgeous bathrooms with shower & luxurious oval bath for two, are situated in floriferous gardens with an abundance of roses in the central part of the village, with views across the gardens to the mountains.

SUNBIRD COTTAGE

Honeymoon Haven
Situated in the village in its own private garden shaded by a large oak tree, Sunbird Cottage has soft cream cretestone walls and sandstone tiles, and is a perfect romantic haven for two.

Decorated in blue & white, the sandstone tiled living/sleeping area has a luxurious queen bed, leather couch and a Firepot fireplace, as well as a dinky dining table. There is a romantic open plan oval bath for two (screen for the modest as well as a separate toilet) and an outside rustic stone double shower. The vine covered stoep has a Weber braai and is set in a cool, shady, very pretty garden with views to the mountains.

HOOPOE COTTAGE & THE GUINEA FOWL ROOM

(sleeps 2 - 4)
Our lovely Afro chic Hoopoe Cottage is conveniently situated in the heart of the village (but not on the main road) within an easy stroll of restaurants and small shops. The Cape Georgian style cottage sleeps two in a luxurious queen bed with a gorgeous faux fur throw, and is named after the pair of African Hoopoe birds who frequent the beautiful, rose filled garden.

The Guinea Fowl Room is a separate bedroom with luxurious double bed (sleeps two) and has a separate entrance, small fridge and tea and coffee tray. Hoopoe and The Guinea Fowl Room share the sandstone tiled living room with large open fireplace set in sandstone clad wall and fully equipped kitchenette and are linked via the beautiful sandstone bathroom which has a shower and romantic oval bath for two.

There is a vine covered stoep with Weber braai which overlooks a beautiful, rose filled garden to the mountains.

Hoopoe Cottage is only available for bookings of more than three nights (excluding any free nights) and is only available as a 4 sleeper cottage at peak times.
