Hamelin guest house is situated on the southern side of the harbour and is particularly central for easy access to the harbour and the southern basin of Durban. Although between two commercial areas it is within a green leafy suburb on Durban's most prominent natural landmark.
An impressive headland forming the southern quayside of the port, the Bluff comprises several suburbs and one of the city's best-kept secrets - the finest bathing, surfing and fishing beaches in the area. Other attractions are the golf course and yacht club. The Bluff is thus also popular holiday spot.
It is also popular with business executives as the Bluff has easy access to the outer ring road for onward travel to King Shaka International Airport without the hassle of CBD traffic congestion.

Within an hourís drive inland are several game reserves inclusive of Tala Valley which is home to the endangered rhino and the Valley of a 1000 Hills with its spectacular views which forms part of the midlands meander route with excellent restaurants as well as arts and crafts dotted along the way.
