The Green Tree Guest Cottages is situated on a working dairy farm, centrally situated to visit the Addo Elephant Park with the magnificent Elephants to see; Schotia Safari’s where you get up close and personal with the lions and big five, Amakhala Game Reserve, the Frontier Country filled with history and the beautiful unspoilt beaches and moving sandunes of the Sunshine Coast.

COTTAGES AND FACILITIes
All four cottages are spacious, beautifully decorated, all with own entrance, private patios and barbeque facilities. The cottages are tastefully furnished with Cape cottage furniture and a hint of Africa, with rich earthy colours, to create a tasteful Southern African interior, which gives you the warmth that only farm life can offer.

THE PORCUPINE COTTAGe
The cottage consists of a double bed and two twin beds( in one large room), suitable for a family of four with small kids, or it can be booked as a couples room or twin room. The bathroom consists of a bath, shower and basin. The cottage is equipped as follows: kitchen with microwave, stove, cutlery, fridge, tea & coffee facilities, air-conditioner cold and warm, television / DSTV hotel bouquet, hairdryer, clock radio, dining table, ceiling fan, private patio, braai at the cottage under the big tree.

THE BUSHBUCK COTTAGE
The cottage consists of a bed room with double bed and bunk bed, and another room with double bed only. Both rooms has en-suit bathrooms (showers only), suitable for 4 adults or adults and 4 children. The cottage is equipped as follows: kitchen with microwave, stove, cutlery, fridge, tea & coffee facilities, air-conditioner cold and warm, television / DSTV hotel bouquet, hairdryer, clock radio, dining table, ceiling fan, private patio with braai under roof.

THE NJALA COTTAGE
The largest of all the cottages, has two bedrooms, one with double bed and one room with two single beds, it also has an extra bunk bed. The bathroom has bath and shower; it has an open plan living / dining and Kitchen area, with inside and outside braai. Suitable for 4 adults or 2 adults and 4 children. The cottage is equipped as follows: kitchen with microwave, stove, cutlery, air-conditioner cold and warm, fridge, tea & coffee facilities, television / DSTV, hairdryer, clock radio, and patio.

THE KUDU COTTAGE
This cottage is the smallest cottage suitable for a couple; it has king-size bed, en-suite bathroom with large shower, toilet and basin. The cottage is equipped as follows: small kitchenette with microwave, mini stove ( 2 plates and small stove), cutlery, air-conditioner cold and warm, ceiling fan, bar fridge with condiments, tea & coffee facilities, television / DSTV, hairdryer, clock radio, private patio, braai facilities under roof on the veranda.

Cleaning:
The Cottages are serviced once daily from 10am onward. Regret no laundry service.

DINING

Self-catering guests can get wood on the farm should they wish to braai. All other produce can be bought in Port Elizabeth which will have your wider variety when it comes to fresh produce. The Spar grocery store at Colchester (26km fro The Green Tree), also on your way, is also a possible stop, but with a smaller variety of things to get. Colchester also has a cozy restaurant, which is popular for their steaks. The Nanaga Farm stall is also close by, with a day restaurant, good for breakfast and lunches. Home made bakes and family sized pies can also be bought there. The restaurant in the Addo Elephant park also supplies meals daily.

Our four cottages are graded 4 stars by the Tourism Grading Council of South Africa, Superior Accommodation by the AA and were a Finalist in the 2008, 2009 and 2010 AA American Express Accommodation Awards Category Farm Stay.

THINGS TO DO

Take full advantage of our South African weather and sunbath around our swimming pool on those warm summer days, or simply catch up on your reading (and napping!) time under the trees of our lush, peaceful garden.

Children can explore the farm, or have fun on the swings, small touch farm also available. The farm dam is stocked with Kurper and lots of bird life.

Guests are also welcome to take a walk to the dairy and see how the cows are milked. If you enjoy walking, you can explore the farm, which is game fenced, the area is the natural habitat for bushbuck, kudu, duiker, warthog and porcupine, you also have a good chance to see monkeys in the fields.

For the bird lover, there is plenty of bird life around the farm and at the Sundays River. Take a walk along the beach at Colchester and see the beautiful moving sand dunes of the Eastern Cape, or if you enjoy fishing, try to catch that big one at the River mouth!
