Fuchsia Place is situated in peaceful surroundings, on the slopes of the Welgemoed Hills overlooking the Welgemoed Dam and Wetlands. The dam and wetlands is a paradise for bird lovers and very popular with residents to walk their dogs. The path around the dam was recently paved and a permanent watchman is on duty 24 hours to secure the safety of the public. Across the road from the dam is the Majik forest with wonderful walks.

Accommodation

Fuchsia Place is tranquil and private and all suites have a private entrance. Each unit has its own private lounge with comfortable lounge chairs, small table and chairs for breakfast. The television sets in the private lounges have M-Net. Suite 1 has a private patio with garden setting; Suite 2 is upstairs with private entrance. The garden and pool is very private, has trees for shade if needed, and loungers to relax. Both suites have braai facilities.

The kitchenettes are fully equipped with microwaves, mini kitchens, fridges, toasters, kettles and irons and ironing boards. The coffee and tea is complimentary. The spacious bedrooms have heaters and humidifier coolers as well as hairdryers and other touches to make your stay as comfortable as possible.

Activities and Attractions

Welgemoed is positioned just off the N1 between the Bellville Golf Course and the Tygerberg Nature Reserve. The reserve is 278ha and from the ‘Viewpoint’ you can see Table Mountain, the scenic Cape Peninsula and you have a beautiful view of the valley and the distant Stellenbosch Mountains. The reserve has a total of 158 bird species, walking trails and scenic picnic facilities, a must for the serious bird watcher.

The 18-hole Bellville Golf Course in the heart of Welgemoed, boasts five water holes, dams and water canals which adds to the enjoyment of your round of golf.

Just outside of Welgemoed is the start of the Durbanville Wine Route. The popular Pampoenkraal restaurant at the Altydgedacht Wine Estate is tucked away under the ancient oak trees and is a truly outdoor experience with an open lapa for dining. The cooking is done on open fires to create a truly rustic African atmosphere. From Altydgedacht you can follow the wine route to nine very different wine estates producing a wide variety of wines.

At the Welgemoed Forum Shopping Centre you can shop at Woolworths and Pick and Pay, go to the up market beauty parlor and hair salon. The Forum has a wine boutique, liquor store, dry cleaner and laundry, as well as Kodak Express Frequent photo. The very popular Café Delicieux, is situated next to Woolworths specializes in homemade food.
