This cosy lapa-style lodge, on the doorstep of the new N2 entrance (Camp Matyholweni) to Addo Elephant National Park and the pristine malaria-free Eastern Cape game parks and the Alexandria Dunefields, offers 12 luxury suites with semi-open plan bathrooms and our special feature, open air ‘rock face’ showers, all under thatch. We are situated 1km off the N2, 30 km east of Port Elizabeth and 2km from the Southern Gate (Camp Matyholweni) of the Greater Addo National Park, bordering the Alexandria Dunes, neighbouring the village of Colchester, close to the beach and the mouth of the charming Sundays River. Only 45 minutes from the settler City of Grahamstown and 120km from Port Alfred. The Lodge is also on the doorstep of some of the world renowned private game reserves. Unwind on the deck next to our woodland style plunge pool or dine exclusively in our wine cellar. AccommodationThe Lodge offers a choice of 12 thatched, spacious, luxurious and well appointed suites with an African flavour in the decor overlooking a beautifully tended garden with a splash pool. Suites are serviced daily. Each suite has its own entrance and safe parking is on the property behind closed gates. Suite 1, 6 and 12 Suite 1, 6 and 12 have Twin beds with crisp 100% cotton linen, comfortable seating, a semi open-plan en-suite bathroom with oversized bath, fluffy bath sheets, hand towels and face cloths, private toilet and our special feature, an outside private rock faced shower under thatch. Gowns and slippers, environmentally friendly toiletries (Shampoo, Shower gel, bubble bath and soaps), a fan, heater, clock/radio and tea/coffee making facilities are also provided. The suite also has a double-up couch that can be converted into 2 single beds. Gowns and slippers, environmentally friendly toiletries (shampoo, shower gel, bubble bath and soaps), a fan, heater, clock/radio and tea/coffee making facilities are also provided. Soluble bath oil, Foam bath, Rose petals and a bottle of wine from our wine cellar add to that extra special occasion. Breakfast & DiningWe offer a full English and Continental breakfast included in the price. We cater to all tastes and include home-made bread, marmalades and jams and our own blend of coffee or 6 flavours of tea are always available. We run an ala carte restaurant for evening meals. We specialize in venison and offer a wide range from Blesbok to Zebra (when available). Candlelight and a well stocked wine cellar allow for a really special African food safari. Facilities & Local Activities• Game drives and Safaris can be arranged at nearby Game Parks and private game reserves. • Elephant-back or horse-back safaris. • Ala Carte Dinner Restaurant specializing in Venison (from Blesbok to Zebra) • Beach and pool towels on request • Canoes can be hired locally - take a cruise up river to go birding or trudge the Dunes. • Safe walking in the area, along the river or over the bridge. • Drive down to the breathtakingly beautiful river mouth, park and walk across the dunes to beaches that stretch for miles. • Addo Elephant National Park, with elephant sightings almost guaranteed is only 2km away. • The city of Port Elizabeth is only 30 minutes away - dolphinarium, an assortment of small game parks and reserves, casino, cinemas, restaurants, day cruises, settler history, . • We provide Airport shuttles to and from the Port Elizabeth Airport.
