Lying on the banks of the crystal clear Mzimkulu River with the majestic Southern Drakensberg rising to 3482m as a backdrop, ekuThuleni offers its guests the perfect setting to unwind and enjoy pristine nature at its best. The area has been nominated a World Heritage Site because of its unique fauna and flora and the richness of its Bushman Rock Art. For nature lovers the mountain or wilderness hikes will be a memorable experience. Birders will enjoy rare sightings unique to this area. Of course there are many more activities at ekuThuleni. Probably the best feature of ekuThuleni (next to the breathtaking views and spacious comfortable cottages) is our 2 km of uMzimkulu river frontage which boundaries the south side of the property. This particular section of river is ideal for swimming, flyfishing, tubing and canoeing, and/or to braai/picnic and just laze on its banks, all within the boundaries of ekuThuleni. AccommodationOur comfortable self-catering cottages, spaced apart for privacy, are fully equipped and can sleep from two to eight people. They have magnificent views of the mountains. All you will need to bring is your food and charcoal for the braai. (We cater for the disabled.) Our CottagesMvuleni: A thatched cottage with a mezzanine floor. It can sleep six in a double bedroom downstairs and a double bed and two singles upstairs. Separate full bathroom. Open fireplace. imPunzi: Thatched, large, open-plan lounge and dining area with a double sleeper couch. Double bedroom and a separate full bathroom. Can sleep four. Open fireplace. Sundeck. uMziki: Charming rondavel type cottage under thatch with a double bedroom and double sleeper couch. Can sleep four. Full bathroom. Open fireplace. Thatched porch. Gate House: Four bedrooms (three double and one with two single beds) that sleep eight. Open fireplace. Open-plan lounge, dining room and kitchen. one full bathroom and one with shower. Orchard Cottage: One double bedroom and two single beds in an open plan area. Fireplace. Shower, toilet, etc. Attractions & ActivitiesOur Farm offers: Trout fishing, swimming, tubing, bird watching, hiking and mountain biking. Within close proximity you can enjoy: Major hiking trails, choice of numerous golf courses and many other sporting and recreational activities.
