Schoemanskloof Accommodation / Die Rots Guesthouse Schoemanskloof Accommodation / Bed & Breakfast in Schoemanskloof

Welcome to Die Rots Guesthouse on SA-Venues.com, offering accommodation in Schoemanskloof, Highlands Meander.

Die Rots is tucked away in the scenic Schoemanskloof (a low risk malaria area) approximately 40 kilometers from Nelspruit on a farm, which has the Crocodile River running through it. If you visit us in the springtime, the wonderful aroma of the orange blossom fills the air.

The accent is on relaxation, peacefulness and enjoying beautiful views from the deck of the thatched house as well as abundant bird life. Sightings might include a Purple Crested Loerie, Paradise Flycatcher or a Longcrested Eagle. At night you can expect to hear some owls or the African Nightjar.

Small game on the farm includes the Duiker (Red and Grey), Bushbuck, Bushpigs, Genet, Jackal as well as the valleys roaming Hippo’s. The Schoemanskloof is approximate 100 meters higher above sea level than Nelspruit with the result that it has a moderate climate, not too cold in winter and not too hot in summer. An abundance of fresh clean air is available.

Accommodation

There are five (3 double rooms and 2 twin rooms) well appointed luxury en-suite rooms (bath and shower), each with their own private entrance from the deck. A lapa with a sparkling swimming pool is available.

Cuisine

We serve a hearty farm breakfast in the dining room or on the deck. Delicious home cooked dinners, South African style, are available by prior arrangement. There are tea and coffee making facilities available in each room and 24/7 in the lapa.

Activities

Ideal to use as a base for exploring the main Lowveld attractions like Sabie waterfalls, Sudwala Caves, Lowveld Botanical Gardens, Kaapse Hoop Pilgrim’s Rest, Gods Window etc. Nearby are quad bikes, 4x4 routes and hiking trails or you can take a leisure stroll on the farm along the beautiful river. Horse riding can be arranged at Kaapse Hoop.

We have approximate two kilometers of Crocodile River frontage and fishing is allowed. If you are brave enough, you can navigate the Crocodile river in a canoe, or kayak (beware of the hippos or the crocodiles). You can laze around the pool or on the deck with a book or novel from our library. At night we can sit around an open fire, gazing into the flames and making small talk. On clear dark nights one can stand in awe of the greatness of our star studded skies.

Location & Distances

3½ hours drive from Johannesburg. The Kruger National Park is only 1½ hour’s drive away and it is en-route to Mozambique (128 kilometers from Mozambique border).

Please Note

Safe and Secure parking is available. DStv in the lounge and Internet facilities are also available. Die Rots is a non-smoking facility but smoking is allowed with caution (because of the thatch) on the deck and the lapa. Children over 12 are welcome. We do not have self catering facilities available.
