The hotel has self catering accommodation which is great for kids. The kitchen area is tiny so only usable for one or two nights. It is only really set up of you need to use a microwave and need a fridge. The rooms are clean and nice finishes. The rooms are spacious with lovely views of Gariep dam. The bathroom did not have a bath. The restaurant is really modern and stylish and the food was absolutely delicious. Karoo cooking and fresh ingredients. Service and staff in the hotel and restaurant are well presented and friendly. Highly recommended for a stop over or to see the dam. |

We had a stopover at DeStijl Gariep Hotel on our way down to the West Coast. My first impression of the hotel was - WOW. It is a beautiful building in the middle of nowhere with the most spectacular views. On entry the staff were very helpful - even helped with our bags. We were settled in without any fuss. Dinner was superb. The chef prepared something special for my two little boys as they are very fussy eaters. The atmosphere is relaxed and we were able to just enjoy the peace and quiet. As we left the next morning very early we were pleasantly surprised that we were able to have our breakfast in the form of fresh sandwiches, fruit and juice ready to take with from reception in carefully packed lunch boxes. The staff really went the extra mile! I'd definitely stay there again. |
