De Oude Huize Yard with its landscaped garden and scenic views over Platberg Mountain, is an idyllic getaway. It is situated in Harrismith, central South Africa - only three hours from Johannesburg and three hours from Durban and is ideal to break the journey from your flight to the coast or Drakensberg.

The rooms are spacious, each one has its own unique style and is luxuriously decorated with restored period pieces and quirky objects with a flavor of yesteryear and days gone by.
All the rooms are en suite. There are wonderful fireplaces that through winter keep the guests warm and comfortable, complete with a decanter of Old Cape Port Wine at your disposal. There is free internet Wi-Fi available.
The room has a private entrance and en-suite bathroom. Furnished with a King size bed the room also has electric blankets, tea and coffee facilities, a hair dryer, TV and anthracite stove for heating.

West Balcony Family Rooms:
These two rooms are situated upstairs and share a bathroom. One room has a King size bed and the other a Queen size. The bathroom has a shower, toilet and basin.
Called the Bibliothèque, this room is filled with approximately 1000 books! Furnished with a Queen size bed, the room is situated in the attic and has an open-plan bathroom.
Enjoy mouth watering meals cooked by owner and chef, Sandra, using local ingredients, and sip delicious wines by host and maitre d’ Hennie.
Harrismith is surrounded by koppies capped in sandstone and meandering roads through pastoral valleys and farms. If you would like to learn more about the history of the town – spoil yourselves and do a historical tour in a vintage Chevy.
