De Kelders B&B is situated on the beautiful unspoilt Walker Bay coastline, surrounded by a protected Greenbelt. The house offers spectacular views over Walker Bay with breathtaking sunsets over the ocean. The unique location provides unmatched tranquillity. This serene setting invites all kinds of wildlife, including regular visits from mongoose, porcupine and a variety of birds. A small seal colony is always visible playing in the kelp. AccommodationWe have self-catering facilities for 6-8 people. The facilities for 6 people include two double rooms with double beds and full en suite bathrooms and a twin room with two extra length single beds and full en suite bathroom. All three rooms open into an open plan lounge, dining room and complete kitchen. The lounge opens onto a private wooden deck and garden, ideal for land based whale watching from your deck chair! For 8 people, an additional room is provided. The fourth room has an entrance into the lounge and a private entrance to the garden. It has a bar fridge, microwave oven and basin. The en suite bathroom sports a shower with a sea view! This room has a queen-size bed and sliding doors to its own patio and the garden. There is a television set with DSTV in the lounge. Barbecue facilities are provided on request. Breakfast by arrangement, not included in price. Off-street parking for up to four cars. The lounge and two double rooms face the ocean, while the twin room overlooks the fynbos and garden. All the rooms are elegantly decorated and have ample cupboard space. They also have heaters and all towels, linen and bedding is provided. The whole unit is serviced daily with clean towels and linen provided regularly. OutsideThe garden leads to a path through the fynbos down to the coastline, where a trail can be followed for miles in either direction. The De Kelders, Gansbaai and Dangerpoint area offers excitement and adventure for the extreme tourist and eco-adventurer alike. And if you are only interested in staying in one location, there is no better place than De Kelders guesthouse. Attractions & ActivitiesActivities in the area include: The best land based whale watching in the world, with prolific numbers of Southern Right Whales on our doorstep. The Southern Right Whales migrate here each year from June to December to mate and calve and nurse their young. Humpback Whales, Breeds Whales and dolphins can also be seen regularly. A boat trip to the Dyers island marine reserve covers the greatest variety of sea animals and birds that you can encounter on a single trip: Seals, Dolphins, Sharks, Southern Right Whales, Humpback Whales, Sun Fish, Penguins, Oyster Cracker and many other bird species. Kayak tours. Cave tours. Lighthouse tours. Four-by-four excursions offering a breathtaking view over Walkerbay. Unspoilt beaches for swimming or snorkelling. Endless hikes. Day trips to interesting towns and wine routes. Golf courses. Gansbaai is world renown as the best place to see the Great White Shark. Whether you see it from a cage or simply from the boat, it is a must do for people of all ages. There are eight boats that go daily to see this magnificent predator.
