About Damesfontein Farm
Damesfontein Farm is a family farm near the Karoo town of Nieu-Bethesda and offers self catering or delicious traditional Karoo cuisine. This is an ideal family farm holiday with peace and quiet, log fires and a farm museum. The guest house has simple decor and furnishings with all the essentials, in a relaxed holiday setting.
Damesfontein is a working Karoo sheep and cattle farm and boasts a family history dating back to 1838. The fifth generation of the family still lives and works on the farm. There is an interesting and noteworthy museum in the original farm house adjacent to the present modern buildings, with original items displayed.
Self Catering Accommodation
Main Guest House (sleeps 9):
The house is furnished with many of the original sets. The wood stove in the kitchen still works, although an electric stove is provided! Everything you would need for a farm holiday is provided for in a relaxed environment. The guest house is self-catering but meals can be provided by arrangement.
Foremans House (sleeps 4):
The Foremans House is adjacent to the main guest house but is completely private. The styling is more suitable for groups sharing the facilities, or for groups of children. The house is equipped for self-catering but meals can be provided by arrangement.
The Herdsmen (sleeps 2):
The Herdsmen shelter is a small and completely private cave, situated about 1,5km from the main house. Everything is provided like bedding, lighting and braai equipment. This is an ideal spot for newlyweds!
