It is also well suited for an extended holiday stay where it can be used as a base for touring the Overberg region or owing to its size, more in line with a one bedroom house, it has plenty of space for the non golfing partner to relax and unwind in your own space.
The spacious cottage comprises a tastefully furnished lounge with gas fireplace, bedroom with two deluxe single beds, en-suite bathroom and fully appointed kitchen. You have your own private entrance, remote control motorized gate, on site parking, and intercom system. A security system, private garden and patio barbeque area with fire wood provided.
Flat screen Samsung LCD television and DVD player is provided, with the full Multichoice DStv Premium Bouquet available.
Breakfast tray, can be provided if required.
Grocery stocking can be done ahead of your arrival on request.
The views from the Cottage sweep across the Hermanus Golf Estate and onto the Klein Rivier Mountain Range as a back drop, and then down to Walker Bay in the distance. You will have convenient access to both the Fernkloof Nature Reserve and the Hermanus Cliff Path which are both less than ten minutes walk from the Cottage.
The Fernkloof Nature Reserve forms part of the Cape Floral Kingdom, which is by far the most species-diverse of the six floral kingdoms of the world. The well sign posted and maintained walking routes in the Reserve, provide access to over 1,600 plant species and is also home to 130 bird species that have been recorded in the area.
The Coastal Cliff Path which stretches from Groto Beach along the coast to the old Harbour is entered from the bottom of Theron Street where you will find yourself close to Siewers Punt which is my favourite spot for whale watching. Hermanus is undoubtedly one of the best land based whale watching sites in the world where from August through November you will have magnificent sightings on a daily basis.
The Hermanus Golf Club with its one hundred year old history has much to offer both the social and competitive golfer. The unique location being the most southerly 18/27 hole course in Africa with its beautiful setting makes it consistently one of the most popular courses in South Africa. The Cottage is situated adjacent to the 15th hole of the Hermanus Golf Club and my wife Maria, who is a full member, will be only too happy to share her knowledge of the club and its excellent facilities with our guests.
Maria and I have owned property in Hermanus since 1995 and visited on a regular basis before moving permanently here in 2008. We have a good knowledge of the area and will provide advice and recommendations on what to see and do during your visit if needed. The Cottage, although completely private and away from the main house is based on our property so we are available if you require any assistance. I am a keen motorcyclist and have mapped a number of interesting motorcycle day trips in and around the Overberg and will gladly share my experiences.
