From the moment you drive through the gates of this small farm a sense of well-being washes over you and the warm welcome makes you feel as if you belong. Camdeboo Manor is a place to take time out and experience the serenity of the Karoo countryside. Relax on the veranda with a beverage of your choice and enjoy the vast landscape that is on your doorstep. Off the front balcony you have a beautiful view of 1000 olive trees, separated by strips of lucerne, and to the right, a close up of Spandau. The Graaff-Reinet golf course lies just beyond the olive trees, which lead you down to the Sunday’s River. ACCOMMODATIONLiesl understands what hospitality means, having spent 3 years in the hotel industry in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania. It was here that she and Stephen collected the unique, and unusual, furniture and décor items that form the central motif for both suites. Carved out of African mahogany, the exotic 4 poster king size beds give the rooms the appearance of a Sultan's private quarters. They aim to provide their guests with comfortable accommodation as well as a sense of being whisked away to an exotic location where luxury and comfort are the norm. Facilities in the rooms includes: Fan, Air-Conditioning, Heater, No Smoking (Smoking permitted on the patio), Tea and Coffee Facilities, Bath, Shower, Linen, Towels and Toiletries. DININGFor those that enjoy the ultimate dining experience under the stars braai facilities are provided next to the pool but, for those who prefer to eat out, your hosts are more than willing to reserve a table at one of the many fine restaurants in Graaff-Reinet. In fact, a small private restaurant will open it’s doors on the adjacent property during November 2007. FACILITIESOn site facilities include: Fax, Internet Access, Babysitting Service, Laundry Service, Garden, Braai / Barbecue, Bar on the Premises, Swimming Pool, Off Street Parking, Fireplace on the Premises, Communal Television and Communal Satellite TV, DVD and VCR. Through the assistance of the European Union and the East Cape Provincial Treasury, we are in the process of establishing an aquaculture venture, namely the “Camdeboo Satellite Aquaculture Project”. Our overall objective is to establish a commercially viable fish production & distribution business through the optimal utilization of existing water sources on the surrounding farms, and thereby introduce skills development and access to a potentially sustainable income to a large number of currently unemployed rural women.
