Bridgewater B&B is an owner-managed guest house offering friendly, relaxed, homely hospitality. It is conveniently situated on the main road, opposite the lagoon with magnificent views, and is an easy 10 minute walk from town centre, restaurants, ferries, and the Knysna Quays Waterfront. Comfortable rooms are either lagoon-facing or lead off a quiet garden courtyard - most have outside entrances.

Your hosts have extensive first hand knowledge of the area to help you plan a very worthwhile tour of the Garden Route. Beautiful beaches and golf courses boasting spectacular scenery within a 15 minute drive. Indigenous forests, wonderful day walks, exhilarating adventure activities, game drives and close encounters with most of Africa’s Big Five within a 30 minute drive. The Wilderness, Nature’s Valley, Tsitsikamma National Park and Oudtshoorn with the Cango Caves are an easy day trip from this very central base.

Accommodation


The eight comfortable bedrooms are all en-suite, and well equipped with TV (MNet, shared DSTV), tea/coffee facilities, ceiling fans, heaters, and hot water bottles for winter, hairdryers, adaptors, safes and Wi-Fi.

Lagoon-facing rooms have lovely views, while those leading off the garden courtyard behind the main building are quiet. Each room has outdoor seating on a balcony or patio. Ashtrays are provided for outdoor smoking only.

Please note:
All rooms are non-smoking. There are six rooms with double or twin beds, and two family rooms with double and single beds. Children welcome. No pets.

Breakfast


Enjoy a generous breakfast while watching the boats come and go on the lagoon. A health and/or full English breakfast is served in the breakfast room which has a magnificent view from 07h00 to 09h30.

Facilities


There is plenty of space to relax in the garden or recline around the swimming pool. Browse through guide books on the area or magazines in the guest lounge. The more energetic are welcome to use our canoes - we are literally a stone’s throw from the water’s edge.

Also available are a central telephone / fax, ADSL internet access (Wi-Fi and workstation), laundry service, hospitality fridge, a fridge for guests’ use, and restaurant menus for perusal. We will gladly make dinner reservations – a wide range of excellent restaurants are within easy walking distance. Parking is on the premises.

Activities and Attractions


This is an outdoor enthusiast’s paradise - activities abound! We will gladly arrange any of the following: lagoon cruises, ferry trips to Featherbed Nature Reserve, dolphin and whale watching, canoeing, mountain biking, horse riding, guided hikes, windsurfing, scuba-diving, fishing on lagoon or deep-sea. For the more adventurous there is sea kayaking, paragliding, skydiving, abseiling, kloofing / creeking, black water tubing, bungy jumping and tree top canopy tours.

Golf
Many highly rated golf courses which offer magnificent scenery lie within an easy drive: Pezula, Simola, Knysna (15 minutes), Goose Valley and Plett (40 minutes), Fancourt, George, Ernie Els’s Oubaai (1 hour), and Pinnacle Point (1 hour 15). Tee-off times and transfers can be arranged. Member rates are available for Pezula and Simola.

Hiking
There are numerous wonderful day walks along coastal or forest trails. Maps and advice on hand.

Join a township tour; visit the Knysna Elephant Park, Wildcat Sanctuary, Birds of Eden or Monkeyland, a primate sanctuary in the forest. Alternatively just spend a leisurely day soaking up the sun on pristine beaches, be pampered at one of many health spas , stroll through shops, sample oysters at a tavern or more sophisticated restaurant, and watch the sun setting over the lagoon .

The eclectic charm of Knysna and the spectacular scenic beauty of the immediate area will keep you occupied for a number of days … and make a return visit imperative!
