Accommodation

At the Brackens the well appointed, spacious rooms and king-size beds are individually styled to provide comfort in relaxing surroundings. Unwind by relaxing around the pool, strolling through the garden, or taking a quiet siesta under the wild fig tree.

Your hosts, James and Barbara, will assist you in selecting restaurants and other attractions from the excellent range of shops, and activities in the area.

Hippo Room:
Full en suite room with a queen bed with private access off a covered patio and pool area.

Giraffe Room:
King bed (or two singles). Full bathroom and private access off a covered patio and pool area.

Elephant Room:
A double room with a full en suite bathroom. There is private access off a covered patio and pool area.

Gecko Garden Cottage:
Furnished with a queen and single bed with an en-suite shower. The cottage is air conditioned with a family room annexe and patio.

Seahorse Garden Cottage:
This air conditioned two roomed unit is furnished with a queen and two single beds. There is a full en-suite bathroom with a shower over the bath.

Rhino Room:
This is the honeymoon suite and is furnished with a king bed and has a full bathroom. It has a secluded garden and covered patio.

Lizard Room:
Furnished with a king or twin beds. There is a full bathroom and private access off the covered patio and pool area.

Ostrich Room:
This double room has an en-suite shower and private access off a covered patio and pool area.

Breakfast

Breakfasts are served either in the breakfast room, or Alfresco, depending on the weather and preference. We also offer special requests on dietary requirements, if advised in advance, so that special items may be sourced.

Our menu consists of cereals, seasonal fruits, yoghurts and breads. The cooked breakfast consists of bacon, sausage, tomato, mushroom and eggs. We also offer fruit juices, ceylon and rooibos teas, and coffee.

Location

Brackens is within walking distance of the Old Main Road, the route used by the thousands of Comrades runners and Amashova Shova cyclists from around the world.

This road also forms the backbone of the "1000 Hills Experience" with its Zulu culture, arts and crafts. Nearby there is the Shongweni Nature Reserve as well as Inanda Dam which hosts the Bass Fishing Classic and the second overnight stop for the Duzi Canoe Marathon.

With easy access to both N3 and M13 and situated midway between Pietermaritzburg and Durban, it is the ideal stop-over for business and holiday travellers alike.
