Caledon Accommodation / Black Eagle Lodge Botrivier Self Catering / Caledon Bed & Breakfast (by prior arrangement)

Escape to a mountain hideaway only 120 km’s from Cape Town. This unique stone lodge is totally secluded from the world yet is positioned centrally, giving one the opportunity to explore the surrounding areas of the Overberg - from Gansbaai and Hermanus to Greyton.

Black Eagle Lodge is situated on a working wheat, sheep and fruit farm, Kempsrivier, which is halfway between Caledon and Botriver.

If you are looking for a few days of total relaxation and soul-searching, a chance to reconnect with yourself or a loved one, or simply time out from a busy holiday or work schedule then a sunlounger with panoramic views of rolling wheatfields and majestic mountains is the place for you. An expansive verandah overlooks a spring water dam surrounded by fynbos, prolific birdlife and crisp fresh air.

Come and relish the splendours of this totally private self-catering retreat. Awake to the call of the sugarbird and unwind to the orchestral sounds of the African night. Spend summer days cooling off in spring water and wintry nights relaxing in front of a blazing log fire. Teach your children about the stars, how to fly-fish, collect frogs and count blue cranes.

Accommodation

Accommodation is luxurious yet rustic. Three double bedrooms offer crisp linen, warm duvets, blankets and hot water bottles for chilly nights. Two bathrooms (1 en suite) have showers, a bath and plenty of fresh towels. A loft above the fireplace offers an inviting sleeping area for 2 children.

The open plan living area has a cosy lounge with a stone fireplace and well-equipped kitchen with gas fridgefreezer and stove. An outside barbecue (braai) area is protected by a boma style enclosure. Lighting is solar powered (there is no electricity).
