About Biesievlak Campsite
If you think that having no tent should stop you from actually going camping, think again. This is no longer the case with the arrival of Biesievlak River Cabins and Campsite. The hassle and logistics of a camping weekend in the Citrusdal Valley is now a thing of the past.
To set the scene, we have here a citrus farm located about 21km from Citrusdal, with the campsite located right on the banks of the Olifants River with its crystal clear water. Think, wide open spaces, green grass, gorgeous sunsets, languid days filled with swimming, braaing and getting to know your neighbours.
Self Catering Accommodation
Biesievlak River Cabins and Camp is situated on Biesievlak which is a family run farm by Schalk Laubcher. The farm is situated on the banks of the Olifants River in the upper river region of Citrusdal on the Keerom road and are covered in citrus plantations.
There are two log cabins. Each cabin has two rooms. One room has a double bed and the other room hosts the kitchen and two single bunk beds. All have cotton percale bedding and a towel is provided per person. In the kitchen you will find a wash up area, fridge / freezer, microwave, stove, toaster, kettle and all utensils for cooking and braaiing. Your view is right over the river with deck that has a table and benches and umbrella. You also have your own braai drum. Ablutions are communal.
Each Biesievlak Campsite (maximum six spread along a 200m stretch) comprises a 7.5x10m water proof Bedouin stretch marquee with an excellent outlook over the water, and one to three (depending on group size) canvas tents pitched underneath and equipped with 150mm thick high density mattress with cotton percale bedding, blankets, towels and extra sleeping bags. You have your own braai grid and utensils, chairs, tables, electric light, cooler box, etc, etc.
Furthermore, every campsite has its own power point and there are hammocks - lest you forget that camping is hard work. Ablutions (hot showers and flush toilets) are communal, so is the fridge for the frosties. Talk about roughing it in style.
The camp area has:
• Wild Flowers during spring, birds
• Close to river, weird rock formations
• Rock climbing and mountain biking on farm roads
