Nottingham Road Accommodation / Bellwood Cottages Nottingham Road Accommodation / Self Catering Cottages in Nottingham Road

A mere four hours from Johannesburg and two hours from Durban, deep in the heart of the breathtaking Natal Midlands, rests Bellwood Cottages.

Accommodation

With seven comfortable, fully equipped self-catering cottages - a family cottage accommodating six people, a secluded ‘honeymoon’ cottage and five cottages on the dam comprising 4-5 private double rooms each, accommodating at least 8-10 people, with space for many more in cosy lofts - Bellwood represents the best you can find in personal farm service, tea, coffee, sugar, soaps and shampoo.

All the cottages have fireplaces, bedding, electric blankets, a fridge, stove and microwave oven, a TV and braai / barbeque facilities. All cottages have DSTV, but please bring your SIM card to activate the decoder.

Note
Please note that only the 5 cottages on the dam are TGCSA 4 star graded and AA Highly Recommended.

Conferences

The Bellwood conference room is located on the upper floor of our Spurwing cottage on the dam. It can accommodate up to 16 people. We remove the beds and side tables and replace with oak desks and padded chairs. We also provide flip charts, white marker board, film screen and an overhead projector.

These facilities are available for hire per conference (please enquire for additional cost) on condition that participants utilize the accommodation at Bellwood. We do not offer any catering but can arrange for an outside caterer if required.

Attractions and Activities

The cottages are located on a 585-acre stud farm with some of the most impressive walks and wide-open spaces that KwaZulu Natal has to offer. Children are welcome! Farm life provides considerable entertainment with an abundance of farmyard animals and ‘goings-on’ to keep them out of mischief.

A two and a half kilometre ramble brings you to the quaint village of Nottingham Road which forms a central part of the famous arts and crafts Midlands Meander and has some of the oldest pubs in the province. For those with a sporting inclination, tennis and golfing facilities can be pre arranged.

Fishing

A tranquil country retreat is not all that Bellwood has to offer! On the farm, a ‘cast’ away from the cottages, are two dams, one a spacious 16 acres and the other a smaller 5 acres in size. The larger dam is 30 feet deep at the wall and is liberally stocked with rainbow trout, while the smaller dam is filled with both rainbow and brown trout. The aim is to satisfy the keen fisherman and the sizes of the trout range from one to nine pounds.

The larger dam also sports four rowing boats. The farm is very close to a well equipped fly fishing shop and Nottingham Road village boasts a local butcher who is available to smoke all your catches. Pre booked trout fishing lessons and hiring of rods available on request.

Notes

No day visitors are allowed. Should guests wish to invite friends, prior permission must be obtained from Management. Subject to the number of guests, a levy per person will be charged. No pets allowed. Fire lighters for braais are not provided. Only wood and coal is provided as stated for the inside fireplace. Further supplies will be for your own account.
