August House is a charming four apartment building situated in the hub of Franschhoek. These four self-catering apartments are all newly and beautifully renovated with a distinct African feeling.

Accommodation


The apartments are all air conditioned and have cable TV. Each apartment is equipped with a fridge and microwave in the kitchenette. Each apartment sleeps two and is furnished with three quarter beds and has its own bathroom with shower only. Two of the apartments walk out onto a balcony where you can enjoy your morning coffee, whilst admiring the view.

The apartments are for rent all year round. The building provides both luxurious and comfortable living, as well as enclosed parking. The four apartments are situated on top of our South African Craft Shop and they are located in the main road of picturesque Franschhoek.

Facilities


Whether you are a connoisseur, explorer or just a tourist wanting a taste of our rich cultural heritage, the Due South Craft shop is the perfect place to shop for all your South African crafts. You can also enjoy delicious pancakes in our Pancake Café on the first floor of the building. The building is within walking distance of the Village Centre, where one may visit art galleries, antique stores as well as craft stores.

August House provides an absorbing view of the magnificent Franschhoek Mountains. Many of these mountain slopes are home to some of the worlds’ most prolific vineyards cultivated by the country’s most skilled wine farmers. The view includes an old Dutch Church which is architecturally fascinating and laden with history.

Franschhoek


Franschhoek is known as the gourmet capital of the Western Cape. World-renowned restaurants are within walking distance of August House. Restaurants include the award-winning Le Quartier Francais and Ruben’s. The restaurants are staffed by some of the country’s most innovative chefs accompanied by wine lists second to none.

Attractions & Activities


The surrounding areas provide many outdoor activities such as horse-riding, vineyard walks, mountain hikes and mountain biking. Franschhoek also caters for the avid golfer (the Pearl Valley Golf Course is only 20 minutes away). There are five golf courses situated within an hour’s drive of Franschhoek. There are also beautiful, meandering streams for fly-fishing and fast flowing rivers for kayaking. Former President Nelson Mandela took his first steps of freedom from the former Victor Verster prison just outside of Franschhoek.

Franschhoek is today regarded as the “wine and cuisine capital” of South Africa. Situated in one of the world’s most breathtaking valleys, Franschhoek is just an hour’s drive from Cape Town and twenty minutes from Paarl and Stellenbosch. This historical town and its surroundings is a wonderful place for those who want to relax and for those looking for adventure.
