Mossel Bay Accommodation / Aqua Marina Guest House Mossel Bay Accommodation / Guest House in Mossel Bay

Aqua Marina Guest House is a 4 star graded guesthouse nestled in a quiet cul-de-sac on the northern slope of the hill overlooking the town, harbour and bay, with the Outeniqua Mountains forming the backdrop to a view "to die for". The guesthouse is 70 meters above sea level and 460 meters away from the water’s edge. According to statistics, Mossel Bay was the safest town in South Africa in 2007. Because we are situated three streets above the main road, where many of the restaurants are situated, guests have the option of walking there or making use of a free shuttle service.

THE VIEWS

During the whale season from April to October, the Southern Right whales visit Mossel Bay and because of our location, guests can watch them frolic while relaxing on the wooden deck and even in their rooms, while sipping their preferred beverage. Schools of dolphins regularly pass us on their way to new hunting grounds. Seal Island, the residents of which provide the food source for the Great White sharks featured in the film recently released on National Geographic in the USA can be seen with the naked eye.

ATTRACTIONS & ACTIVITIES

Two operators provide pleasure trips around Seal Island, which take about 2 hours and sightings of great white sharks are possible in 40% of these cruises. For the bold guests, there is also a service available for eye to eye meetings with these creatures of the deep where shark cage dives are catered for.

The Outeniqua Choo tjoe is one of Africa’s great experiences. It begins at the Outeniqua Transport Museum in George with it’s eclectic collection of old locomotives, historic coaches, vintage cars and unusual trucks, and ends at the Dias Museum Complex in Mossel Bay - with it’s Maritime Museum, Shell Museum, Braille trail and famous Old Post Office Tree.

For hikers, the St. Blaize trail is an easy walk all along the cliffs overlooking the ocean and the duration can be determined according to the hiker’s need up to about 15 kilometers. Day safaris at Botlierskop (Best Game & Nature Reserve Winner 2007) which can include game drives, elephant back rides & picnics, bush walks and meals at the fireplace restaurant can be arranged.

Mossel Bay Golf Club, where you can sea the sea from every tee and Pinnacle Point Golf and Casino Resort, which was voted one of the 10 best new courses in the world are 5 and 10 minutes drive away respectively. Tee off times can be arranged at special rates.

For the more energetic, bungee jumping from the Gouritz river bridge, abseiling in the bay or going on chartered fishing trips can be arranged. The Garden Route Casino is ten minutes drive away for those who get the urge to try their luck at striking it rich.

The above are but a few of the interesting activities offered at this beautiful sea side town established in 1488. Laundry services are available on request at additional cost. Shuttle service to and from the airport can be arranged.

Your hosts, Noel and Alida Hudson will endeavour to make your stay at Aqua Marina Guest House the first of many.
