Anchor's Rest offers Bed & Breakfast or Self-catering accommodation in upmarket, private guest suites in the heart of Umhlanga Rocks just a two-minute walk to the golden beaches of Umhlanga in Durban, KwaZulu Natal, South Africa.

Anchor's Rest has everything to offer the holiday maker or business person, with tropical surroundings, beautiful beaches, easy access to good shopping and restaurant facilities, as well as being located close to business parks, sports clubs, tourist attractions, the Sibaya Casino, Gateway Shoppertainment Centre and many top quality 18 hole golf courses.

ACCOMMODATION

Anchor's Rest accommodation consists of three luxury self-catering suites (which can also be taken on a B&B basis out of season), one two-roomed B&B suite and one standard B&B inland facing room. Please note we cannot accommodate children under the age of 10 years.

Each of the suites offers the following facilities:
• Private entrance with patio and barbecue facilities
• Air conditioning plus ceiling fans
• En-suite bathroom with shower and bath
• Tea and coffee making facilities plus a small fridge
• Personal DSTV decoder for satellite TV
• Free Wireless Internet
• Safes, hair dryers, irons and ironing boards
• Books and magazines for guests' reading pleasure
• All suites are available with, or without breakfast
• Open plan bedroom and lounge area which opens onto the patio, except for the two roomed suite which has a separate bedroom and lounge

Anchor's Rest provides excellent security, including electric fencing all round, alarms on the gates and CCTV watching each external entrance. A solar heated pool is provided for greater swimming comfort throughout the year.

Yellowwood Room:
Large, luxuriously appointed garden suite which sleeps two adults in either a king size bed, or two single beds. This room is often referred to as the "Honeymoon Suite" as it is private and spacious where you can relax in the lounge area, or on the private patio enjoying the bird life in the indigenous trees. Honeymoon couples are welcomed to Anchor's Rest with a complimentary cold bottle of sparkling wine and a box of chocolates.

The Yellowwood room also has a well appointed kitchenette with allows for self catering with ease. There is an open plan bedroom and small lounge area which opens onto a private, covered patio. The garden is a semi tropical delight and has an abundance of bird life which are attracted to the bird feeders and bird bath under the trees.

Cheetah Room:
Large beautifully appointed garden suite sleeps two adults. This self contained suite features a modern en-suite bathroom and a well appointed kitchenette. This suite has a large corner bath and shower, which is ideal for a long, luxurious soak! The large covered patio is ideal for outdoor living and is a superb braai (BBQ) area. Situated in the garden away from other guest rooms, you have the feeling of being in a private garden apartment.

Blue Crane Suite:
A well-appointed two roomed suite, which consists of a separate bedroom and lounge with a full en suite bathroom with a separate shower and bath. The lounge can be made up as a bedroom with a double size sleeper couch for a third adult (no children under the age of ten). Sea views from the veranda and a private table and chairs looking over the swimming pool.

Strelitzia Room:
A large, luxuriously appointed suite overlooking the pool and tropical garden. This suite has a large, private patio with an electric sun awning, which is ideal for protection from the hot midday sun or to make your evening barbecue that bit cosier. This suite accommodates two people in either a king size bed, or two single beds, with a large en-suite bathroom with separate shower and bath.

Springbok Room:
A standard, inland facing room which is ideal for cost conscious travellers, or those travellers who don’t need a large room. The room has a double bed with an en suite shower and all the room facilities which the other rooms have.

BREAKFAST

At Anchor's Rest you can choose between "self catering" or the "bed & breakfast" option. Should you decide to go for the bed & breakfast option, a full cooked breakfast, as well as the option of a hearty continental breakfast is served in the dining room, or on the patio - weather permitting.

SERVICES & FACILITIES

After a busy day sight seeing, or sun tanning on the beach, you can relax around a sparkling pool, enjoying the magnificent weather of the Sugar Coast and the warm hospitality of the hosts. In the evening, bar-b-que under the stars, dine al fresco in the gardens, or walk into Umhlanga to enjoy local seafood at any number of good quality restaurants.

Secure off street parking is provided for guests, as well as a laundry service at an additional cost. Airport transfers, car hire and private tours can be arranged to suit guests. Wireless internet access throughout the whole guesthouse.

Nearby sporting facilities include: golf, tennis, squash, scuba diving, snorkelling, fishing, horse riding, surfing, micro light flights, skate boarding, ten pin bowling and mini golf. Comprehensive sports club facilities are available in nearby La Lucia.
