Akademie Street Guesthouses offer five star guest house accommodation in four unique buildings all situated on the same beautiful property in a quiet area of the village Franschhoek in the heart of the Cape Winelands. In summer the sun shines warmly on the Akademie Street guest house collection. Three of the buildings have their own sun-kissed swimming pool and shady, private gardens where one can lie in privacy and listen to the splashing of the fountains, the song of cicadas, the cooing of the Cape Doves … sounds so evocative of the Cape Winelands. The fourth building, Uitsig does not have a pool or private garden but it is a separate, large, luxurious upstairs suite with balcony and lovely views. It is an easy stroll to the renowned restaurants and attractions in the village of Franschhoek and almost all of the most famous vineyards of the Cape Winelands are a short drive away. Here one can experience ... The cooing of the Cape Turtle Dove The shade of the oaks The splashing of the fountains The chant of the cicadas Bougainvillea baking in the sun. Breakfasts are served under a vine-covered patio or in the Cape Dutch home called Twyfeling. AccommodationOortuiging (Conviction) is our 1860’s luxury cottage. It has two en-suite bedrooms, a lounge, a kitchen and a dining room. It has its own pool and private garden. Oortuiging can sleep three but takes two in spacious luxury. Gelatenheid (Equanimity) is our largest (220 square metre) guesthouse - a double storey just for two. The en-suite loft bedroom with king size bed, dressing and living room area opens onto an upstairs verandah with special views over the mountains and vineyards. There is a romantic bath under the trees with a heated towel rail. Downstairs are a kitchen and a dining area overlooking a large pool and private garden. Vreugde (Joy) sleeps two in twin three-quarter beds, or a king size bed on prior notice. The bath and shower are separate, there is a small kitchenette and French doors open onto a wide veranda with beautiful garden and private pool. One can lounge on the leather sofa on the porch listening to the birds and the singing of the fountain. This is a very intimate private place. Uitsig (View) sleeps two in a king-size bed or, if previously requested, in twin three-quarter beds. The bath and shower are separate and French doors open onto a sun-baked balcony with a lovely view of the mountains. This private, upstairs suite is wonderfully comfortable and spacious but has no access to a pool as do the others. For this reason it is ideal as an extra room when one wants to sleep parties of more than two adults in any of the other three guesthouses. The guests in it can then share their friend’s pool and garden. Of course it is also great for those people wanting a luxury room with a view and who do not wish to swim. Welcome bottle of Cap Classique sparkling wine, generous breakfasts, laundry and free internet.
