Africa Beat B&B is situated close to the OR Tambo Airport (formerly Johannesburg International) and all the facilities offered by the world city Johannesburg. Emilie and Thys, both former teachers, would like to offer you their hospitality. The guests at Africa Beat B&B enjoy the quiet and safe surroundings of an upmarket suburb in a tranquil garden, yet can be picked up from or delivered speedily to the airport to catch their flight on time. We are proud of our personal, friendly and homely atmosphere. Contributing to this is our helpful staff (two Xhosa ladies in traditional attire), as well as a smiling Dalmatian. ACCOMMODATIONThe 5 rooms are tastefully designed with an African theme. In fact, when one of the evaluators entered the family room, he exclaimed: ‘Fit for the President!’. Each double room has a microwave, DSTV, small fridge stocked with a variety of drinks, as well as a variety of snacks. A bunch of fresh flowers brings the world of nature into your room. In the mornings the sound of birds will wake you up ... an alarm clock, though provided, is hardly necessary! BREAKFASTStart your day with a hearty warm breakfast with cereals, sausage, ham and eggs to taste and the smell of freshly brewed coffee and peaceful background music. Tea lovers and the health conscious are not forgotten (the 93 year old sharp-as-a needle Granny will see to that!), with a variety of teas, pure fruit juices and yoghurt. We are also sympathetic to special requests like mealie pap, Oats or Maltabella porridge etc if made in advance. FACILITIESJump in the sparkling pool to cool off or just sit down and relax comfortably and enjoy the garden. Free pickup at the airport. Rent-a-car from us at reasonable rates (small - Hyundai Atos) or larger (Avanza 7 seater). We are at your service. ATTRACTIONS & ACTIVITIESThere is a golf course, large shopping centre (Festival Mall) less than 2km away from the B&B, with ice rink, and (shortly) a modern movie complex, if you have the afternoon or evening free. The nearby Emperors Palace with it’s striking architecture offers a Casino as well as culinary facilities. We will also gladly put you in touch with tour guides who offer day trips to the Apartheid Museum, Nelson Mandela’s house, the sprawling Soweto Township, Lion Park further West or the famous Sun City complex near Rustenburg. Some guests, who don’t have time to visit the Kruger National Park further up North, might prefer to make a day visit to the Pilanesberg Game Reserve, next to Sun City, with nearly 200km of self or guided driving, and where the Big Five are now on site. On the way to the Game Park a well known Snake park near Hartbeespoort Dam as well as beautiful African Art can form part of the itinerary. The striking Voortrekker Monument in Pretoria is a must for those with a feeling for the historical (not to forget its well known restaurant), and the Freedom Park next to it. Closer to home, for the more daring, and for those who want to impress their friends at home, there is the well known restaurant where you might have a taste of the exotic (Crocodile, Elephant, Buffalo or Giraffe!).
