The seaside resort of Port Alfred is conveniently situated between the towns of Port Elizabeth and East London. Both towns have excellent airports. We can do airport transfers if needed. 4 Carnoustie Guest House is on the west bank of Port Alfred built on a hill with a 270 degree panoramic view stretching across the Royal Port Alfred Golf Course to the Kowie river mouth in the distance to the sea a hundred metres in front of the guest house.

Accommodation

The top floor consists of three double B&B units, full bathroom en-suite, DStv, air-conditioning. One of the units has two bedrooms each with own DStv and entrance onto the deck. Each unit has a small lounge with bar fridge and coffee / tea facilities. The units offer a combination of twin or king size beds. All units have sea views.

The guest lounge is spacious with comfortable couches from which to watch DStv or just relax and look at the sea. The lounge has a fire place for the winter nights and a social bar. The open plan dining area leads out onto a deck with solar heated plunge pool and braai facilities. For larger groups who want self-catering we can offer the top floor units on a self catering basis.

Luxury Self Catering is offered on the first floor in a two bedroomed apartment both rooms en-suite with DStv and fans. The bedrooms can be either twin or king. There is a spacious open plan living area consisting of full kitchen, lounge with TV and dining area with fire place all leading out onto a deck with braai facilities and spectacular views over the golf course and sea. Guests can book into the top floor dining room for breakfast if they so wish during their stay.

The ground floor is a standard one bedroom apartment with shower. It has a lounge, dining area and fully equipped kitchen. Outside braai facilities are available with covered carport and limited sea views.

Conferences

4 Carnoustie is a venue for small management conferences. We offer the venue, meals and accommodation (maximum twelve people) and ideally situated as a mid point between Port Elizabeth and East London. On request we offer lunches and suppers for guests and host special functions. WiFi is available. Secure off street parking for the convenience of our guests.

Attractions

When in Port Alfred you can spend your time relaxing on the deck at the guest house or stroll down to the beach which offers reflective walks and an abundence of shells to collect. The blue flag beach is only six hundred metres along the beach.

We can organize day game trips to a number of different game farms all within an hour’s drive of Port Alfred. For those clients with their own transport Addo Elephant Park is an hour and a half away. The Kowie river flows through Port Alfred and offers a variety of activities from energetic rowing, fishing to cruises around the marina and up river.

Many of our returning clients are golfers enjoying the tranquil Fish River Sun golf course (Gary Player design) down the road and our own Royal golf course with springbok, impala, fallow deer, bonte-bok, duiker and bush buck to keep you company on your round of golf.
