St Francis Bay is a charming coastal resort situated on one of the loveliest stretches of South Africa’s renowned Indian Ocean coastline. It is delightfully unspoilt, with long sandy beaches alternating with low rocky headlands. The village, with its traditional white houses and thatched roofs, offers a selection of first class restaurants and cafes; with a large local fishing fleet, seafood and fish are naturally favourites. It also offers a good selection of shops and other services for visitors.

34 Lovemore Crescent has been established for nearly 20 years. Its success has been built on its comfortable accommodation and warm hospitality. Monica Johnson, who has run it from the beginning, knows the area intimately and loves to share with guests her enthusiasm for her home, her understanding of her surroundings, and her experiences of a lifetime spent on farms, in the bush and by the sea.

Bed & Breakfast Accommodation
There are two double bedrooms available in the main house, each with magnificent, uninterrupted sea views. One has a king-size bed and en-suite shower. The other has twin beds and an adjoining private bathroom with bath and separate shower. These two rooms share a large private sitting-room with satellite TV.

Self Catering Accommodation
There is also a flat in the gardens of the main house which, although it does not have the same beautiful sea views, is very comfortable and private. It is fully equipped for self-catering, has satellite TV, and can accommodate five people. Breakfast is available in the main house, if needed.

The property is set in a large, securely enclosed garden with ample parking and excellent bird watching.

Breakfast

Excellent breakfasts include fresh home-baked bread and scones, full South African cooked breakfasts and fresh seasonal fruit.

Activities and Attractions

Local activities include fishing, swimming and boating, in both the sea and river. Boat trips can be arranged for fishing or sight-seeing with experienced, professional operators. There are two golf courses and a bowling club available within the village. Each of these welcomes visitors. ‘Bruces’, the surfing wave made famous by the film ‘Endless Summer’ is directly in front of the house.

Whales come each year to calve in the bay and dolphins can be seen throughout the year. The famous lighthouse at Seal Point in nearby Cape St Francis, is the tallest and one of the oldest in South Africa, and the adjoining Penguin Rescue Centre is also a popular attraction.

There are, naturally, many beautiful walks along the coast line and in season a profusion of wild flowers. Finally, Addo Elephant Park and several other game parks are within easy reach.
