De Waterkant is, in truth, a modernised rendition of the Bo-Kaap and lies just next to this same suburb. This is a trendy area that has maintained, and even accentuated, the colourful, bright semi-detached houses - restoring them into fashionable cottages that, together with the cobbled, tree-lined streets and spectacular views, bring to mind New York’s Greenwich Village and London’s Soho ... cont.
Follow the N2 directions towards Cape Town. Stay on the N2 and follow directions to the city centre. As you come into the city the N1 will spit into a V. Keep in the far right-hand lane which will take you onto the overpass and past the Cape Town International Convention Centre (you will see this on your left-hand side). Just after you pass the CTICC the N1 will become Buitengracht Street. Stay on Buitengracht Street and go through the first 2 traffic lights. At the third traffic light take a right onto Somerset Road and then the second right turn onto Alfred Street. The Rockwell is situated on the corner of Prestwich and Alfred Streets.
