“…Movement, spontaneity, atmosphere… is what I look for in a picture. The bride’s natural rhythm and ease are my highest priorities on the big day. It is important to me that a bride is herself and acts natural, as I enjoy the challenge of making people comfortable in front of the camera. I am a big fan of capturing decisive moments…”
Christo Harvey loves to capture people and breathtaking scenery in South Africa and abroad. Christo started his photographic career at the TUT Photo School in Pretoria in 1996. Since then he gained extensive experience in shooting interiors, products, corporate portfolios, photographic documentaries and, most importantly, weddings.
Apart from having done several social functions and weddings in the United Kingdom, he is currently broadening his speciality in the Gauteng and surrounding area. Some of his clients include Blackmoon Advertising, The Competition Commission, GEMS, FASSET, Cow Advertising, Due South Arts and Craft and The Radio Kalahari Orkes.
Christo’s style is characterised by his documentary approach: spontaneous, natural and always on the lookout for the serendipity of the moment. When required, he uses a more formal and stylised approach. He takes a combination of black and white and colour photos and uses both digital and traditional camera techniques. Sepia and blue tones are also used to add a touch of atmosphere. His natural ability to work with people in a relaxed manner, helps to put camera shy individuals and nervous brides at ease.
On your wedding day, Christo records everything from the make-up and preparation, through to the finest details of the ceremony and reception. All the emotion, drama and intimate moments are sensitively observed and carefully captured. Even the anticipation on the faces of the grandparents won’t go unnoticed to the experienced eye behind the lens.
His budget package includes seven hours’ coverage of the wedding. All the images are rendered to a print ready state. The client receives a final selection of +- 400 carefully selected and edited photos on CD or DVD for own printing. The standard package includes the printing of the photos in the desired format and sizes.
An optional coffee table book can be custom designed in consultation with you. The book is printed on high quality Fedrigoni Tintoretto Italian cotton paper. To ensure your satisfaction with the product, the design and layout can be previewed before your book is printed and bound.
Christo also obtained a degree in Heritage and Cultural Tourism at the University of Pretoria in 2003.
