D’aria owes much of its success to the heritage of hard working Dutchwomen, Tryntjie Verway and her daughter Alida, whose historic farms, Doodekraal and Springfield, merged to become the D’Aria Vineyards in 1998.
The estate launched its first wine, the D’Aria Sauvignon Blanc, in November 2005 and prides itself on its winemaking by hand. From the very beginning, grapes are handpicked and once in the cellar, are also sorted by hand. The sophisticated, modern winery can handle up to 400 tons and processes 80% red varieties with 20% white grapes. On the outside, the architecture speaks of its Cape Dutch heritage and the inside allows processing of white grapes in an inert nitrogen press and fermentation in stainless steel tanks whilst the red grapes are matured in oak barriques post-fermentation.
The estate offers wine tasting, outdoor braai area and summer concert series. At the award-winning Poplars Restaurant you can relax around a spitbraai at lunch or have a cosy dining experience of up to 30 guests. Host any function you can imagine from weddings to exhibitions of up to 350 people.
