About Viljoensdrift Winery
The Viljoen family have occupied this part of the awe-inspiring Robertson Wine Valley since 1818, when their French forefathers arrived in South Africa. Flanked by the Elandsberg Mountain Range and the Breede River, this wine estate is all about natural beauty and breath-taking vistas. When this wine estate was officially established in 1998, the family committed to working in close cooperation with nature, and have stuck to this promise. For this reason, one of the sons studied Nature Conservation and continues to use his knowledge and insight to ensure that the land is well cared for throughout the wine-making process.
Today, their wines have won a number of awards, and continue to be favoured by enthusiasts all over the world. The soil and climate lend themselves particularly well to Chardonnay, Pinotage and Shiraz.
Visitors to Viljoensdrift are promised more than simply a tasting of fabulous top-notch wines. The deli and picnic area create an idyllic nook in which to enjoy the surrounding beauty, while the river cruises down the Breede River are simply perfect. There is also a décor shop for those needing a little retail therapy.
